1. Stay Informed. If you are just starting out with Minecraft, the first important thing to remember is you need to learn everything you can about Minecraft. If you dont have a grasp on the basic tenets and rules of Minecraft, (like how to build, craft, farm and move) you stand a good chance of losing before you get very far.

2. It is important to have a good computer setup. Minecraft is famous for the way it eats up your RAM. Before you decide to get involved in a PvP game, check the specs on your computer. Here, the minimum system requirements are probably not too difficult to meet. However, if you want a flawless performance from your game, you should try to get computer system that has 4 GB of RAM or higher, a fast processor, and a great graphics card as well. If you fail to follow this tip, you may experience lags in the game, which could very well be the death of your game character.

3. Mouse. It is critical that that you have a mouse that gives a smooth, flawless performance as well. If your mouse is substandard or malfunctions, the delays in your response time could also cost your character its life, especially if you are engaged in an intense battle.

4. So the next question. Which version of Minecraft do you play? Have you just found Minecraft? You probably realized by now that there are several versions of Minecraft available on the market today. These include different platforms, everything from gaming consoles, personal computers, tablets and more. It is rather important to know which one you are using, to avoid issues and confusion. Although the basic structure of the game is pretty much the same, you are working in a 3-D environment, creating and destroying things, each version has different elements that change from one to the next.

5. Do research on the enemies you might come across. We are not discussing other players here not at this time anyway. What we refer to here is hostile characters that you will probably meet during game play. Like many games, Minecraft NPCs (referred to a non-player characters) can be either hostile or just passive. It is the hostile ones you have to be worried about. In actuality, there are 6 groups of characters that computer generated. These are also called mobs. The mobs fall under these groups specifically: passive, utility, neutral, tamable, regular hostile, and unique hostile (the worst). Now, generally the first 4 of these are fairly passive and easy to work with. They include; animals that can be hunted or used for food, pets, or villagers. Then we have the characters created by players, like golems for example. And of course the rather infamous enderman. So that leaves the last 2 groups, which are considered quite hostile, and you definitely need to know about if you plan for your character to survive the game.

6. Playing the game. You should play a peaceful game mode the first few times that you play. This will help you get a feel for the game before you try the more difficult combat mode. There is also a creative mode. Here your main focus is to build and create things. It doesn't hurt to get an idea how to build your village, defenses and such, since the resources are needed to support you later. The next step you might want to try is the survival mode. Here you see how well you can run and escape from enemies, fend off enemies, be invisible from your enemies, or just plain old fight off hostile mobs of AI monsters who are trying to kill you! When you finally got that all figured out, then you can try the PvP mode.

7. Early in the game you should try to kill as many farm animals as you can. By doing this ahead of time, you can get into the action or other more important tasks, rather than wasting your time gathering food

8. The next thing to know about is the multi-player. Now there are 2 different ways you can be part of a multi-player group in Minecraft. You can either choose to join a group, if you are unsure, or if you are ambitious, you can set up your own server. Many people end up setting up their own if they have friends who want to join them. Dont worry though, there are numerous guides online that will walk you through the process step by step to help you with any hosting or set up issues that you might run into.

9. Crafting patterns. Crafting is definitely an important skill you will need when playing Minecraft. It is vital to create the tools you will need during the game. So, the more complicated the tools is, the more intricate the crafting pattern will be. If the tool is more sophisticated, you will also have a greater chance of making mistakes as well. However, if you dont want to take the chance of wasting your resources by making the wrong tool, you dont have to use the manual in your PC or the cheat sheet. All you really have to remember is what the basic shape is of whatever you wish to create. Although this may not always be the case, most of the items that you craft, usually follow this basic rule. So if you wanted to construct a bow, you would need to layout the sticks and string to resemble the item.
