Mountains rise high above the surrounding land. They are the highest points on Earth. The tallest mountain in the world is Mount Everest on the borders of Tibet and Nepal, north of India. Mount Everest rises 29,028 feet (8,848 meters) above the surrounding land. Many people enjoy climbing mountains, but we can learn a lot about them from ground level too.
