Welcome to The 21-Day Alkaline Diet Plan. Im Laura Rimmer (ne Wilson), the author and your guide through this journey into upgraded health and wellness! Im a nutritionist and diet coach with almost two decades of experience and research under my belt. I have worked with hundreds of people, one to one, to improve their diet and health and have reached over 100,000 people through my books, articles, courses, coaching programs, and events.
I became interested in the alkaline diet in my early twenties when I left university. Having eaten the university diet comprising junk food, drinking too much alcohol, and smoking cigarettes, which left me feeling tired, overweight, and with the beginnings of an autoimmune disease, it was time to improve my health.
When I discovered that our bodies need alkaline mineralrich foods to thrive, I started learning how to incorporate more of them into my diet. I had one main goal in mindto make healthy eating simple and delicious, so it would transform from being a diet to a lifestyle.
The alkaline diet is a healthy, nutritious, and delicious way to live. It is not only an easy diet to follow, its also one of the most energy-producing and weight losspromoting ways to eat. It also fights disease and combats cancer. The diet shuns refined grains, sugars, and rancid oils and instead focuses on leafy greens and vegetables, healthy oils and fats, and some nuts, seeds, gluten-free grains, and low-sugar fruits. This means it also fights diabetes and staves off degenerative conditions such as metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance, both of which are first in a deadly cascade of dominos that can lead toward cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer.
And what more could we ask for?
The Standard American Diet today is one that is highly inflammatory and obesity promotingfull of little but pseudo foods devoid of nutrients. Further, chemicals like artificial sweeteners and flavorings, food colorings, preservatives, and other substances inflame the body, toxify the liver, and leave us vulnerable to a long list of diseases.
If you love eating nutrient-dense foods, the alkaline diet is a great diet for you.
If you want to know just how healthy the alkaline diet could be for you, consider how long people live in areas of the world called the Blue Zones. For me, the alkaline diet has proven to be life altering for the better. I found that eating an alkaline, plant-based diet was a great way to experience easy weight loss and maintain a slim body, high energy, clear skin, and complete vitality.
I have had a new enthusiasm for life, exercise, goals, hobbies, and relationships since I started on an alkaline diet almost two decades ago. Its also helped my mood be more positive and stable, and Ive seen a newfound sense of general happiness for no reason on this diet as well.
Ive designed this book for the person who wants to try the alkaline life but wants an easy guide that takes them step by step through the process of what to eat, how to eat, and how to test your alkalinity/acidity to see if youre on track.
Ive also included a seven-day cleanse for those who want to start the diet with a body-flushing cleanse that helps you shed weight and deflate from the highly inflammatory Standard American Diet even faster (you can also use this cleanse as a reset later).

The alkaline diet is about eating foods rich in alkaline minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, and sodium. It is not, as some naysayers think, about changing your bodys acidity, or its stomach pH, or even your blood pH.
