How to Use This Book
So your child wants to be famous? Who doesnt! If you bought this book then most likely your kid has said to you, Mom, I want to be a star! If your child has expressed a desire to be in show business, dont panic. I am here to guide and inform you and your child as to what it takes to go down this path. A career in show business or any business takes extremely hard work and 100% commitment.
As a 30 year veteran of discovering kid stars and producing hit TV shows such as Disney Channels The Suite Life on Deck, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and several TV movies, I have seen hundreds of kids try to make it in show business. Most parents and kids dont understand the steps or how to navigate the ins and outs of the industry. Most make critical mistakes unless they are under my management! As Hollywoods only trusted career coach for kid talent, I developed THE DRAY WAY www.thedrayway.com as my method for guiding showbiz kids and their parents. The Dray Way is my method for working with kids and training parents on how to pursue this business we call show in a strategic manner, the right way.
I cant tell you how many times kids tell me on Skype, Facebook & Twitter that they want to be famous. My question to them and to their parents is WHY and WHOSE DREAM IS THIS? There are many unknowns when starting on this adventure, such as how do you know if your kid has talent? Are looks really important? What experience is required? How serious is your child about acting, singing or dancing? How serious are you as parents about helping your child pursue this career? Do you need to move the entire family to LA? What training does your child need? How does this business work? What is your role as the parent? What are the chances your child will get the job? Plus, how do you know if your kid even has what it takes... the IT factor?
If you are asking yourself these questions, then this book is required reading. It is a step-by-step instructional guide to read and learn with your child. At the same time, its fun, humorous, entertaining and filled with personal stories about some of your favorite stars. I feel every parent that has a talented child should know the realities, the inside scoop about show business. Ive seen too many parents and their children make the same mistakes over and over again. I wrote this book to give you the real deal, coming from me, about what it takes for your child to explore acting and show business the right way, The Dray Way.
The book is designed as a workbook for parents and kids to do together. Every chapter explains, informs and delivers the honest truth about specific aspects of the entertainment business and outlines the crucial information you need to learn, as a family. Some chapters are designed exclusively for parents, but most are a family affair. The exercises in each chapter are to be completed by parents and kids in order to learn the skills required to be a better actor, singer or dancer. Since the book is intended as a step-by-step process, make sure you understand the information and complete the exercises before continuing to the next chapter.
After you have read this book and completed all the exercises, you will be educated and have a clearer understanding of the correct steps and necessary skills required to pursue your childs dream.
Mom! I Want to Be a Star is entertaining, fun to read and a wonderful opportunity to explore together your childs dream and desire of becoming a star!
So enjoy The Dray Way!
