About Dan Purser MD

As just your plain old run-of-the-mill a physician, I was seeing a lot of confusion about hormones and preventive medicine. Heck, even I was confused (even the government was too, and is still confused to this day, but back then they had shoved the food pyramid down our throat and then decided to change it to its newest iteration what a mess!). I was also heavily involved in pituitary endocrinology research at a university level, plus held down a day job in a cosmetic surgery group where I dealt with complex wound and healing issues. So needing to be even more overwhelmed on a daily basis I decided to write a much needed textbook on preventive medicine. Small grew to huge and eventually we published my first booka 750-page ride into academic medicine. The book was a big hit at shows and conferencesso I got a little inkling on how well books could do.

I spun off shorter versions of my textbook (Male/Female Handbook A & B). Then I wrote my first #1 book PROGESTERONE. Ive written many books since, 11 more which have been #1 in various categories online.

And learned that books, even #1 books, make you little money. But the speaking gigs (now 5 figures minimum to speak), and product design and sales opportunities around twelve #1 books are AWESOME.

So I keep writing. I speak somewhere in the world (Hello Borneo!!!) at least once a month, well be manufacturing over 200 products this year (hint= TONS of $$$), and this year (2016) my goal is to teach physicians how to gain my lifestyle and success theres tons of pie out there and I want to share it. Thanks and I love you all

FOREWORD

I M A WESTERN M.D.

Kind of...

I have, in the last few years, started to wander far afield. I deal with complex wound and healing issues in a plastic surgery group in Utah its a VERY unique opportunity that I have for my day job. Ive also done endocrinology research on the side at a major university hospital on the west coast, written more than a dozen books and published them online (including a textbook and TEN #1 books!), designed products for various vitamin companies, spoken all over the world, have a cash only practice and eschew the deafening control of insurance companies.

Yep, pretty far afield. But it may surprise you (it does me) that I have been one of my countys Utah Medical Association reps the last 11 years. What were they thinking?

But what was I thinking when I wrote this book? This problem has flummoxed me. Im not even sure why I wrote this other than for myself. And then I realized...

What a problem it was.

Do you have or have ever had problems with addictions, smoking, drugs, alcohol, Downs syndrome, miscarriages, pulmonary emboli, depression, schizophrenia, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, chemical sensitivity, Parkinsons Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Pre-eclampsia? Or any other unexplained chronic diseases where the doctor just shook his head?

Have others in your family had any of these (or other diseases listed in Chapter Six)?

You can see why I think this is overwhelming I keep tracing down so many illnesses linked to this problem. And these are patients whove been to a dozen or more other doctors. This IS overwhelming our healthcare system and is not being recognized (IMHO).

Have you ever had intracellular vitamin testing done? (Well, you will after this book.)

Why does your doctor (my brothers and sisters in the medical field who are REALLY WESTERN medical doctors) miss this? They have time for Bandaids only too busy with their 60+ patients and crushing schedule that makes them hate life. So you have to stop him short, grab her attention, whatever you can do. And hand them this book (on your iPad or paperback version) and if its you (youll know when youre done with it) then tell them its you, and to read it and to help you. NOW.

Then see if they do...

Lets read through this together because I wrote this for me it was a complex subject which I was too busy to digest and too in a hurry to figure out. But if I know my talents, one that I ABSOLUTELY know that I have is to make the complex simple and understandable. So I hope this helps.

I have been involved in pituitary endocrinology research for years and writing about it (how ironic that I called it the great mimic I was wrong this is THE GREATEST MIMIC) plus I see patients that are difficult to diagnose and treat at my practice in Lindon. I also perform SpectraCell Comprehensive MicroNutrient Panels on most of my patients (an amazing test that looks at INTRACELLULAR vitamin and mineral levels). And over the years I have seen tons of patient with B12 and folate levels that just would not correct thus I backed into MTHFR.

This book is written for my patients and loved ones a compilation really by people and other doctors who were forerunners in this field I am just a reporter now. But I hope bringing it together and organizing it all under one title can help make it a little easier.

Youd better learn this diagram backwards and forward:

IT STARTS WITH A WOMAN S he came into the Garden Room and sat down she - photo 1
IT STARTS WITH A WOMAN...

S he came into the Garden Room and sat down she looked sad, aged beyond her years, too. When I walked in, her appearance made me glance at her chart.

I did the math - she was only 34.

Only 34...

Id never seen her before, so I asked who referred her.

She said the name of another patient. She said you were good would take the time with me. Ive been to 12 other doctors or something - lost count. Most of them didnt have a clue.

I nodded and looked at her papers and labs. I told her a little about me researcher, author, physician, no more than eight patients in a day - that kinda stuff. It was an old song for me.

So WHAT IS the matter with you? I smiled a little around the edges. I looked at her straight in the eyes, weighing her. I already suspected.

She looked plainly back. You tell me. Depressed, fatigued, EXHAUSTED ALL THE TIME.

I nodded. Made quick notes. I dont use an EMR all my doc patients would shoot me first if I tried. They were NOT private and we all knew it. So I scribbled with a black pen.

Cold hands and feet, ICE COLD. Hair loss. Periods are wack. Ive had two kids, both C-section. Felt really bad for ten plus years.

I looked up.

Theyve had me on everything Cymbalta, Prozac, BCPs to regulate my period made me worse. Adderall, Provigil for the fatigue. Nothing worked...

Still taking anything?

Stopped it all it made me worse.

Your labs look like youre in ovarian failure maybe, certainly ovarian insufficiency.

Whats that?

Your ovaries have the dwindles. I smiled at her sadly. Id seen this before, but I was being careful.

Yah, thats why they put me on birth control pills but those weirded me out. She leaned forward. Whats that mean why arent they working?

It doesnt look like pituitary problems any head injuries?

She shook her head.

Were your deliveries crazy? Or loss of blood? Anything?
