INTRODUCTION

Whether a chilly summer evening or a blustery winter day, nothing warms the body and soul like a blanket handmade with love. Cozy crochet blankets provide warmth and color throughout the house, from the bedroom, to the living room, to the nursery. Practical, timeless, and easy to make, youll love the eighteen projects for crochet afghans, blankets, and throws in Interweave Presents Classic Crochet Blankets.

These classic crochet afghan patterns use a variety of crochet techniques. Crochet blankets are traditionally made one of three ways: working side to side in rows, working from the center out, or by joining motifs. From these foundations, a number of techniques can be used to create designs that range from homey and practical to stunning and sophisticated. Row by row, you can work unique striped effects or create a doily-inspired blanket with decorative lace details working from the center out. Classic granny squares are at the heart of motif-based afghans and just the start of what you can make when stitching together colorful motifs.

Crocheting a blanket is often the way beginner crocheters are introduced to crochet as a craft, and they quickly become their favorite type of project to make. In this collection of eighteen Interweave favorites, you can explore a variety of traditional techniques with stunning results.

So add a touch of personalization to your home, or get started on a gift for a special friend. Interweave Presents Classic Crochet Blankets provides all the instructionand warmthyou need to get started.

KALEIDOSCOPE afghan DESIGNED BY TAMMY HILDEBRAND As a child designer Tammy - photo 6

KALEIDOSCOPE
afghan
DESIGNED BY TAMMY HILDEBRAND

As a child, designer Tammy Hildebrand was fascinated looking into her toy kaleidoscope, watching the ever-changing designs appear. That memory was the inspiration behind this afghan. Designing each motif, she imagined lying in the grass on a summer day, twisting the end of the kaleidoscope to come up with a beautiful new design.
