First and foremost, I would like to say thank you to God. Second, I would like to thank all my family and friends who have guided me throughout the years. Lastly, I would like to thank the readers of this book. I hope that you guys enjoy reading it!
How could I have been so stupid to have done what I did? thought Britney Landley. She sat in a bout of anger. The cold January air in Georgia did not help in calming her down. Britneys arms were crossed in front of her in disgust. She pursed her lips together at the sight of the cheerleading squad performing at the pep rally. She began to think about her past actions as she sat by herself in the schools gymnasium.
She used to be one of those girls with adoring eyes and spotlights on her. That could have been me performing out there, Britney said with disappointment. She looked at the head cheerleader, Jessica Richardson, being mounted up onto the pyramid. Jessica looked so happy and Britney wished the same happiness for herself again.
Britney missed those good old days of everyone admiring her. She missed her friends that were on the squad. Most of all, she missed the notoriety of being a cheerleader. So how did Britney end up this way? Well, we have to start at the beginning.
Jessica Richardson stood in her majestic bathroom on a cool night in August. She turned on the faucets, and while taking a shower, she thought about how fast her summer had flown by. She relaxed as the jet streams came down and the water massaged her back. Jessica reminisced about how great her summer had been.
During the month of June, her mom and dad had taken her to Paris. They visited grand sites such as: the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, and Versailles Palace. In July, they headed to London to tour Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London. They also shopped at extravagant Harrods and visited other well-known places.
In another residence, Linda Shaw assisted her daughter, Amanda, in re-dying her hair black. After they finished, Amanda took a shower and thought about how slow her summer had passed by. Her mother was single and struggled to pay the bills. So, Amanda had nowhere to go this summer except to go to work. Then again, Amanda thought that it was good that her summer went by slowly, so she didnt have to worry about being made fun of at school.
Both girls finished taking their showers and went to their rooms to pack their things. After their packing was completed, they pulled back the covers off their beds, got inside, and turned off their desk lamps. Neither of them knew what their future held. Both were nervous about the next day.
Every high school in America has its own beauty queen and school nerd. However, this case was unique because both had something in common (besides the beauty queen asking the school nerd for homework help).
Its time to wake up, Amanda! Come on, its your last year! yelled Linda. It was 6:30 in the morning on a nice, warm Monday in August, and Amanda was too tired to get up.
After her last two years at Porter Academy in the bustling city of Atlanta, she was not having the time of her life. Amanda knew that she would be struggling through a tedious math and science curriculum her senior year. On top of her heavy school workload, she was also president of the Science Club and a member of Serve Your Fellow Humanity, a community service group.
Amanda, a beautiful brunette girl with ocean blue eyes hidden behind black-rimmed glasses, was known as a good girl. She paid more attention to her schoolwork than her physical appearance. On numerous occasions, Amandas hair appeared to be unruly.
Amanda worked at the local movie theater in the affluent neighborhood of Buckhead. Linda worked as a cleaning lady at The Ritz-Carlton hotel during the week. On the weekends, she would clean Buckhead mansions for extra income.
A few subdivisions down the road led to a beautiful brick mansion. Inside the estate, Jessica rested in her king-size bed with down-feathered comforter and pillows. At 6:00 AM, Yolanda, her housekeeper, came to wake Jessica up.
Yolanda Bovart had worked for the Richardsons since Jessica was six years old. At the time, they were living in Boca Raton, Florida. She gently tapped Jessica on her shoulder and said, Princess Jessica, it is time for you to wake-up. Lets go, its your senior year. The end is almost here!
A local southern belle, Jessica made headlines almost everyday winning local beauty contests such as Miss Teen Georgia. Jessica had spent her whole life living in Boca Raton. She recently transferred to Porter in October of her junior year. Upon transferring, she instantly became a star. With her flowing blonde hair and simply irresistible blue eyes, no one could ever compare to Jessica at Porter.
Within two months, she had become the head cheerleader and student council president. Most people had to work hard to obtain these positions, but not Jessica because she had the money and the looks.
Jessica opened her eyes and sighed in contentment. How perfect can my life be? Jessica asked herself as she stretched. She held onto her heavenly pillow as the warm sun streamed lightly into her room. Yolanda had gently pulled back the shades. Thank you, Yolanda. I promise that I will get up now.
Well, we have to get going. Kelly will be here in ten minutes.
Jessica arose from her bed and went to prepare for school in her luminous master bathroom. After brushing her teeth and washing her face, she waited for a few seconds while Kelly set up her supplies and equipment. An array of lipsticks, eye shadows, eyeliners, and all sorts of make-up were set up on Jessicas vanity dresser.
Kelly Mahoney had been Jessicas make-up and hair stylist since Jessica was seven years old. They met when Jessica participated in the Little Miss Boca Raton pageant. Kellys fashion style ranged from casual to professional to punk rock.
Today, she chose punk rock and had blue streaks through her black hair. She wore a black tank top that said Rock Star, denim jeans, and black Jimmy Choo boots. Only on special occasions did Jessica hire Kellys assistance since Kellys clientele list had expanded. In addition to Jessica, Kelly also got to work with three famous singers. Jessica completely supported Kelly and her branching business since Kelly had helped her win several beauty pageants in the past.
Now, the two girls talked excitedly about the first day of school. So, are you nervous? Kelly asked Jessica.
No, not really. Im so ready for high school to be over, Jessica lied to Kelly in order to calm her nerves.
