Muhammad Ali spent his first twenty-two years with the name Cassius Clay before changing it. Sometimes were going to call him Muhammad Ali and sometimes were going to call him Cassius Clay. Its the same person. Well try not to be confusing.
Too late!
I doubt it. I know a lot about Ali.
But you dont know this.
Please excuse my brother. Turner and I have always been interested in famous people. We thought it would be cool to choose some celebrities and learn all about them. But we didnt want to learn regular, boring stuff about famous people that you can find anywhere. We want to learn about unusual stuff. Odd stuff. Strange stuff. Funny stuff.
Yeah, the stuff you dont see in regular biographies. Ill give you an example. Did you know that in the middle of one bout, Muhammad Ali had a load of ice cubes dropped down his pants?
Wait! What? How do you know that? I didnt come across that in my research.
Its true. He was fighting against Henry Cooper in 1966, and he was losing. He looked dazed and confused. So his cornermen dumped ice cubes down his pants to wake him up. Then Ali went on to win the bout.
Thats cool, in more ways than one.
See? I know lots of stuff you dont know about Muhammad Ali. Do you want to hear about the guy who licked his sweat?
No! Yuck! Thats disgusting!
Okay, Ill save it for later. I guess we should start this book off by saying the obviousMuhammad Ali was a chicken.
Turner! He was not!
Was too. It says so on the cover of this book. It must be true.
Nobody asked me what the title should be.
Well, its too late to change it now. But it doesnt matter, because Muhammad Ali really was a chicken.
Youre nuts! He was the heavyweight champion of the world. Three times! Nobody ever did that before.
He was a chicken, I say.
Youre crazy. Do you even know what it means to be the heavyweight champion? It means youre fearless. Nobody can beat you.
