Adolfo Cerceda (192379) was a talented Argentinian magician and an exceptionally gifted origamist. Many of his creations such as the Arab on horseback, baseball player, bullfighter, and flamenco singer are now origami classics.
This book of remarkably original and inventive projects, presented by origami expert Vicente Palacios, provides instructions for constructing over 100 different models attributed to Cerceda. Designed especially for newcomers to the art of paperfolding, they include such traditional figures as a duck in flight, a camel, rabbit, elephant, penguin, cat, jaguar, lion and lioness, butterfly, and polar bear, as well as such unusual subjects as a vampire, kneeling angel, devil, Pegasus, a sofa, and other ingenious creations.
Complete folding instructions accompany each project. There are also directions for general folding techniques, a table of folding symbols, a list of origami organizations, and more. A new introduction by origami expert Peter Engel complements a profusely illustrated volume that will delight beginning and veteran paperfolders alike.

No other origami expert had so great an influence on the creative work of Adolfo Cerceda as Akira Yoshizawa, and there was no other he admired so much.

Yoshizawas Pigeon was published in 1968 in a little book by Robert Harbin ( Origami 1 ), but the drawingperhaps not very well doneIs reminiscent of a little bird rather than a pigeon.

At a later date, Adolfo Cerceda, who was no doubt acquainted with it, created the Pigeon 4, shown here.

In 1979, Mr. Yoshizawa published another of his works, and in this there was a photograph of his authentic Pigeon. We have taken the liberty of reproducing the drawing shown at the foot of this page as exactly as possible from the said photograph, to give the reader the opportunity to see for himself the different versions of the same bird that these two brilliant paperfolding artists produced.

It will seem impossible to the beginner that these forms can be obtained by folding. They are not the work of the sketcher! They are frequently achieved in origami, and Adolfo Cerceda took particular pleasure in doing them in a large number of his creations.
