Dear Reader,

I wish I could say that I've always been interested in language, but it wouldn't be quite true I distinctly remember hating word etymology in grade school. However, I can honestly say that was a fluke, because it completely changed when I started learning French in high school. In fact, I loved French so much that after two years I began studying Spanish as well.

Thanks to the Internet, I have the greatest job in the world, teaching French and Spanish to virtual students and commiserating with virtual colleagues all over the world. I started my French site ( http://french.about.com ) in 1999 and my Spanish site ( http://spanish.allinfo-about.com ) two years later. Working freelance allows me plenty of time to travel.
