my journey
T welve years ago, I fell in love with raw foods. It happened when I stepped into my cousin's kitchen in California and came face to face with 88 pounds (40 kg) of oranges, as well as sun-ripened tomatoes and freshly picked avocados, on the kitchen counter. I hardly knew what raw food was or what it meant. Could one really live on only fruit, vegetables, nuts, and seeds?
The answer came pretty quickly: yes, it is possible. And not only can you live on the stuff, it is pure superfooda true health boost. Its food as medicine, coming straight from nature.
My own health surged. I thought I was feeling pretty good overall, but I got to experience what it feels like to be truly well. Gone were the blood-sugar blues, the water retention, and the noisy, gas-filled gut. And it wasn't only my physiological well-being that improvedmy entire being felt so much happier!
I was off to a fantastic start thanks to all the support I got from my cousin and her family, who had adopted this healthy lifestyle to the fullest. It felt like an adventure to pick up fresh oranges from the local grower, to shop for fresh and organic produce at the Farmers Market, and to discover the wild foodstuffs that could be found in nature.
After spending ten weeks with my cousin and her family, raw food had captured my body and heart. Back in Sweden, I began trying the lifestyle on my own, and started writing Sweden's first raw food recipe book.
I still find this food just as fun and tasty now as before. A lot has happened on the raw food scene in Sweden since I got into it, and it has been great to be able to follow its progress. I'm truly dedicated to getting people to live healthier lives, and with this book my aim is to inspire you to invite superfoods and raw food into your life. Id like to show you that it doesn't have to be especially complicated or time-consuming to live more healthily. So why not start with a snack?

T hese days there's a lot of talk about food's impact on our health as well as on our environment; perhaps youre one of those individuals who strives to live a little healthier and who would like to have a bit more energy every day. But how do you do it? Where do you start? The answer is simple. To see an improvement in health, more wholesome food needs to sneak into day-to-day living. It is the small, daily choices that make the greatest impact.
With this book, I want to show you that it is neither difficult nor time-consuming to eat healthy. Here you'll find recipes that are so simple that you can get them ready in only five or ten minutes. A few of them call for some drying in the oven, which will, of course, require a bit more time, but you can prepare a larger batch, which will last you longer. And you don't have to go all out you're already taking a big step towards having more energy and a better quality of life if you swap a snack or two for some of the recipes in the book!
Food with superpowers are dear to my heart, and it is with great pleasure that I share with you how you can enhance your health with fresh raw ingredients, powerful seeds, interesting powders, and other revitalizing ingredients. These are simple, quick snacks made of superfoods that will boost your health. Whether you're just starting to touch lightly on what superfoods entail, or you are already adept at raw food, I hope to be able to inspire you and help you along the way.
In the first section of the book I'll go over 25 superfoods, and suggest how you can create new routines. You'll also be introduced to the raw food pyramid, and learn more about its different categories. Next youll find delicious recipes that are guaranteed to help you start a healthier life. Once you feel confident with these recipes, I hope you will use them as the starting point for your own creations and combinations.
When I began my own raw food journey, it was with easy recipes that, once mastered, spurred me on in my own creativity. Ive kept these recipes with me through the years, and they rescue my everyday foods. I save my more intricate recipes and delicious desserts for the weekend or for holidays. My food needs to be fast to prepare, because I make different meals for my family and for myself; the recipes Ive gathered in this book often save the day. Maybe they can become part of your diet, and can help you boost your health?
