How amazing would it be if it was as simple as flicking a switch to suddenly change your health and fitness habits for good! What if this was possible? What if it required just small daily changes to your current lifestyle, rather than radical changes that are unlikely to have a long term and positive impact?
What Im about to show you will prove that with just small and incremental daily changes and the right systems, you can transform your health and fitness habits for good, but on one condition. you must switch your mindset from short term to long term thinking.
Welcome to The Habit Switch. My name is Romney Nelson, and I want to provide you with all the knowledge to help make a transformation with how you view your fitness and health.
To provide you with some details of my background, I have a significant wealth of experience in health, fitness and wellbeing. I have a Bachelor of Physical Education & Health, and I have been Head of Faculty for some of the leading Independent Schools in Australia and the UK. I am a qualified Personal Trainer and coach, I have represented Australia at the World Championships in Hong Kong for Dragon Boat Racing and have participated in the National Championships for Surf Life Saving.
I have complimented my sporting achievements with an extensive employment career. I have served on several Executive Teams and National positions of responsibility. I have worked for the Australian Football League (AFL) and currently have a seat on the Advisory Board of Australias largest mobile dental provider with over 40,000 patients per year. My personal experience in the fields of health, exercise physiology and sports training has provided me with the opportunity to share all that I have learned to help you regain control over your eating habits and physical fitness.
I wrote The Habit Switch with a key focus to guide you through the methods to build the right systems, structures and mindset to help you determine what advice is real and what advice is pure marketing in the billion-dollar fitness and dieting industry. Further to this, The Habit Switch will provide you with all the information that will enable you to significantly improve your diet, health and fitness in a simplified and easy to implement system.
We gravitate towards books that will help us .
Theres a reason why you are reading this book and its because we all want to improve our diet and fitness to keep ourselves healthy, but it seems like every day there is a new article with an entirely different way to go about it. It is easy to have the best intentions when starting a new diet routine but still find yourself falling victim to confusing marketing practices that are only trying to achieve short-term success without caring if their methods are effective for the long term.
Diet and exercise plans that help you lose a few pounds very quickly are effective in the short term, but they often lose steam the longer you follow them. Some diets are simply too restrictive to follow for more than a few weeks, leaving you lethargic, hungry and craving something more substantial, ultimately leading you towards ending the diet. Other diet plans ask for a significant commitment of time and combining this with very busy lives; they tend to fall by the wayside. Dropping an exercise plan or not getting the right results on a diet can make you feel unnecessarily guilty, but the truth is, the lack of success on these plans is due to the focus on the short term rather than more powerful and lasting long-term results.
Additionally, due to the abundance of different diet plans, health and fitness advice from various sources can often vary greatly. The information these sources suggest can even contradict other fitness books and articles, leaving you uncertain about what will really work to improve your health. One study will claim that frequent alcohol consumption leads to health problems, while another will tell you to have a glass of red wine every day. Some sources tell you to eat more fat, while others suggest you to stop eating fat altogether. The same is true for whether or not you should be eating red meat and incorporating designated 'superfoods' into your diet. Even health suggestions that are not contradictory can become overwhelming due to the sheer number of factors you must keep track of. Altering your diet, counting your steps, reducing your calories, keeping track of macros, drinking more water, and dozens of other measures ask for an unrealistically significant contribution of your time and energy, which can be especially frustrating when you see minimal results even after all of that work. With all of this in mind, it is no surprise that it is hard to narrow down precisely what you should and shouldn't be doing to get and stay healthy. But what is the solution to cutting through all the confusion and figuring out what works?
Improving your health needs to become natural, and you need to feel comfortable with the process. Adopting a diet and exercise regimen that benefits your body and mind is instead a gradual process of improving your daily habits and allowing them to build incrementally to create real change.
Healthy Habits
Habits are the little actions we take every day, even without thinking about them, that make up our daily routines. Small habits can have a surprisingly large impact on your life. Their strength lies in the fact that they promote constant action in your subconscious, letting you break down a difficult task into more manageable segments and complete it over a length of time. For example, say you want to write a novel. Trying to write thousands of words each day would certainly be a formidable task. However, if you simply committed yourself to write a mere 200 words a day, a habit which fits more easily into your schedule, you would make progress on your book every day. The act of writing would become habitual over time, and with steady progress, you would finish your book much sooner than you once thought possible. Habits can be applied to every part of your life, including health and fitness, and making good use of them can yield amazing results.
