August 20, 2017. Maybe it wasnt a red-letter day for you, but it was for me. And for Paul.

At the foothills of the mountains in Colorado, surrounded by breathtaking beauty and like-minded allies, our lives changed. I was there when everything changed for Paul. A lot of things changed for many of us that day. Ripples still radiate through my heart and mind from that weekend. I believe they will continue, until I breathe my last.

Disruption. Adventure. Change. Life. Abandonment of any semblance of a comfort zone. Advancing into new territory. A turning point perhaps, the turning point for Paul.

I was there. I have been there ever since, walking through life with Paul over these last few years as hes navigated through massive decisions and profound circumstances. Im grateful and deeply honored to do so.

Over the last decade, Ive averaged reading at least one book a month. Ive yet to come across a complete, comprehensive book on any given subject. This book is not that, nor is it designed to be. Influencer Networking Secrets provides a real-world framework for increasing your influence and reach. This book is much more about how to be versus what to do .

You will learn from a practitioner. Paul does not approach his work academically he invites you into his life. He shares real things, from a life examined, that serve to advance from both failure and success. His actions are his words. His story impacts yours.

Ill start with this: Its a privilege to be much clearer on that question.

The truth is, for many years I was considerably less certain. I could tell you who I was in relation to others. I could tell you who I dreamed of becoming. I was ready and willing to share my past. But the present was still shrouded in uncertainty.

The difference with this, the third version of my book, is proof of concept. I wrote the 2018 and 2019 versions in a prophetic posture. They were published and released before I really had something to show for the content. Im fond of quoting Denholm Elliott, in the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: I knew everything, except where to begin.

My name is no more or less significant than the next author youll read. This isnt a book about personalities . Its about becoming a certain kind of person . Perhaps even a manifesto, if you will, about becoming the kind of person who moves throughout the world in a manner profoundly different from the pack. A man who walks right through barriers others think are impossible.

The Book of Proverbs uses the lizard to characterize a person who can be caught with the hand, yet lives in kings palaces. I dont know many people eager to be compared with the creature itself, but I like the spiritual meaning. What I teach and model in this book gets exemplified by those vulnerable yet cunning little reptiles. Theyre content to sit in the shadows, camouflaged by their environment, for lengthy periods. In fact, its the only way they survive. A lizard in constant motion is usually avoiding a predator.
