An air fryer is a small type of oven. It is an innovative countertop kitchen gadget that fries or cooks food by circulating hot air via convection current. The air fryer has a heating ring that produces hot air. There is also a mechanical fan that circulates the hot air all over the food at high speed. This hot air cook or fries the food to give the same crispy product as the oil fried variety. The difference between air frying and oil frying is that while oil frying involves immersion of the food into the hot oil to cook, the air fryer doesnt. It means that you can achieve the same cooking results as in oil frying but with little to no oil.The air fryer works great for foods like roasted vegetables, especially roasted garlic, bacon, whole chicken, wings, eggs, meat, and fish.Since air fryers dont require as much oil as oil frying does, they are generally considered healthier. An air fryer reduces the oil content of food to nearly 80% less than oil frying. It is because the food does not absorb as much oil as with oil frying. However, this difference has led to arguments about the taste of air fried food compared to the oil fried variety. Since oil adds more flavor to fried food as it is being absorbed, it comes as no surprise if an air fried food tastes slightly different from oil fried ones. This cookbook covers:What is an Air Fryer?Breakfast RecipesLunch RecipesDinner RecipesAppetizers, Snacks and Sides RecipesDesserts Recipes

Table of Contents
Introduction
Before we get started with delicious, mouthwatering recipes, you need to understand what the air fryer is and how it works. The air fryer uses hot air in order to cook food so that you can use less oil. Most appliances rely on traditional cooking instructions like conducting heat, but the air fryer goes against the trend. The air is the magic. It sucks in the air into the intake chamber and then cranks up the heat, raising the temperature of the air inside. The air is then passed through cooking cells where your meal is prepared. This can also be referred to as rapid air technology. The appliance cooks your meal and limits the amount of oil used by circulating that air around the food. The air keeps the heat instead of the oil!
Air Fryer Components
If youre new to the air fryer, then the parts may be a bit confusing at first glance.
Cooking Chamber: This is the part of your air fryer where your food will actually be placed to cook. The chamber will vary slightly from brand to brand. Some have normal cook baskets, and some have walled cook baskets.
Heating Element: This is the coil inside the fryer that will produce heat once electricity passes through it. The heating element will reach the desired temperature and then air is passed through the coil. The air heats up as its passed through.
Fan & Grill: This is what circulates the superheated air to cook your food.
Exhaust System: This is where excess pressure is released so that no harmful buildup occurs. Most modern air fryers will also include a filter to get rid of dirt, which can keep unpleasant odors from building up in your air fryer.
Food Tray: Depending on your air fryer, this may have boundary walls built within so that you can cook multiple dishes at once, and others have a handle that allow you to remove the tray with ease.
Some Common Features
Different air fryer brands will have different features, but there are some common air fryer features out there. Here are the basics but be sure to read your manual to get to know your air fryer even better.
Assorted Cook Presets: There are usually multiple pre-set cook settings, so you wont always have to worry about setting the right temperature. If you want to know the exact settings and parameters that your air fryer has, youll find this information in your manual. These pre-settings can make using your air fryer so much easier.
Automated Temperature Control: This will keep the temperature levels steady through the entire cooking session.
Touch Panel/Digital Screen: This allows you to control your device without any hassle.
Buzzer: This will let you know when the time is up so that you dont have to stand in the kitchen just to make sure that your food doesnt burn.
Uses of Air Fryer
Here are some of the cooking techniques that you can do with this single appliance:
Fry: You can actually omit oil in cooking, but a little amount adds crunch and flavor to your food. You can add oil to the ingredients while mixing or lightly spray the food with oil before cooking. You can use most kinds of oils, but many users prefer peanut, olive, sunflower, and canola oils.
Roast: You can produce the same quality of roasted foods like the ones cooked in a conventional roaster in a faster manner. This is recommended to people who need to come up with a special dish but do not have much time to prepare.
Bake: There are baking pans suited for this appliance that you can use to bake bread, cookies, and other pastries. It only takes around 15 to 30 minutes to get your baked goodies done.
Grill: It effectively grills your food easily and without a mess. You only need to shake the basket halfway through the cooking process or flip the ingredients once or twice, depending on the instructions. To make it easier, you can put the ingredients in a grill pan or grill layer with a handle, which other models include in the package, or you can also buy one as an added accessory.
There are many kinds of foods that you can cook using an air fryer, but there are also certain types that are not suited for it. Avoid cooking ingredients, which can be steamed, like beans and carrots. You also cannot fry foods covered in heavy batter in this appliance.
Aside from the above mentioned, you can cook most kinds of ingredients using an air fryer. You can use it for cooking foods covered in light flour or bread crumbs. You can cook a variety of vegetables in the appliance, such as cauliflower, asparagus, zucchini, kale, peppers, and corn on the cob. You can also use it for cooking frozen foods, and home-prepared meals by following a different set of instructions for these purposes.
An air fryer also comes with another useful feature - the separator. It allows you to cook multiple dishes at a time. Use the separator to divide ingredients in the pan or basket. You have to make sure that all ingredients have the same temperature setting so that everything will cook evenly at the same time.
