Introduction
Italian cuisine is more than spaghetti and pizza. Numerous ingredients are available to increase the flavors of Italian dishes. Italian food is satisfying and bold without making them heavy. Textural and rich food is an important part of Italian culture. When Italian migrants arrived on the shores of America, they could not find balsamico, prosciutto, dried porcinis and olive oil. They adapted to the ingredients around them that result in more sausages and meat in the dishes along with garlic.
As a result, American-Italian food came into existence. These dishes are mistaken as traditional Italian cuisine, but these only give half of the taste of Italian cuisine to your taste buds. Italian meals comprise of cured meats like capicola and prosciutto or vegetables like artichoke hearts, mushrooms, and pepperoncini. Olive oil is the cornerstone of the Italian food however, garlic and onion are also necessary, but green vegetables are known as the star of your plate. Balsamic vinegar is an important ingredient in the Italian kitchen. Fish is staple in Italian diet whether it is canned in oil or fresh, like sardines.
