Some facts you didnt know about emotional eating
It is common to reach for ice creams, sweets, whiskey, or other soul-soothing snacks or foods when we are hurting, and in the end, put our healthy eating lifestyle in harms way. Not only this but the essence and satisfaction that good eating is expected to give gets denied when your mind is troubled.
While eating is essential for life, emotional eating doesnt fix any emotional problem, rather it makes you eat or drink too much, which may be harmful. The desire or craving comes suddenly, not usually hunger-induced and this is mostly craving for unhealthy food.
It is also worthy to note that emotional eating spikes usually lead to mindless or uncontrolled eating and you wouldnt know when you are gradually gulping out a pint of ice cream or a jar of alcohol. You cant even tell when you are full and this often ends in regrets when you regain sanity. So, the best way to fix a troubled heart is to find someone to talk to, vent out the frustrations, take a long stroll, or sit in the park with friends.
Try to resist the urge to eat anything that pops up in your mind, and stay away from the bar. Food is meant to be enjoyed, not endured, and that only happens when you are truly hungry, so, read along and catch on some tasty and easy meals that will satisfy true hunger.
