Hawaii has many dishes that tempt its natives and visitors alike. On the islands, cattle are raised in multiple pastures, supplying the islands with beef and milk. Vegetables and fruit grow especially well in the rich soil of the island of Maui.
Hawaii is home to some of the finest fish you could hope to dine on. Ahi, yellowfin tuna, is a perennial favorite. The islanders have a great deal of experience cooking Mahi Mahi as well, in many tasty dishes.
There is a variety of fruit in Hawaii, and it adds a tropical touch to the recipes prepared on the islands. There are bananas, limes, melons, mangos, pineapples, papayas, strawberries, oranges, starfruit and tangerines.

Hawaiian Breakfast Recipes
1 Pineapple & Bacon Breakfast Casserole
Sweet and savory combine in this tropical twist on everyday casseroles for breakfast. You can easily prepare it the previous night, too, for mornings when you dont have extra time.
Makes 12 servings
Cooking + Prep Time: 1 hour + 3-8 hours chilling time
Ingredients:
2 cups of milk, 2%
8 eggs, large
2 tsp. of Worcestershire sauce, low sodium
1 tsp. of mustard, ground
1 cup of mozzarella cheese shreds
1 cup of cheddar cheese shreds
14 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup of ham, cooked and cubed
3/4 cup of pineapple tidbits
1 x 12-oz. pkg. of 1 cubed sweet rolls, Hawaiian
1/2 cup of French-fried onions, crushed
Instructions:
In a large-sized bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, mustard and Worcestershire sauce till blended well. Stir in the ham, bacon, cheese & pineapple tidbits. Stir in the cubed rolls gently.
Transfer the mixture to a lightly greased 13 x 9 casserole dish. Cover and place in the refrigerator for at least three hours. You can refrigerate it overnight if you like.
Heat an oven to 350F.
Remove the breakfast casserole from the refrigerator. Uncover and bake in the oven till golden brown, 35 to 45 minutes. Sprinkle with the onions when halfway done. Allow to stand for five to 10 minutes, then slice and serve.
2 Hawaiian Fried Rice Breakfast
This breakfast has a base of fried rice, and its filled with tropical delights. Pineapples, ham or bacon, veggies and scrambled eggs make it a filling and tasty breakfast dish.
Makes 4-6 servings
Cooking + Prep Time: 45 minutes
Ingredients:
4 tsp. of oil, olive
1/2 cup of chopped onion, red
1 bunch of chopped green onions, large chop firm ends separate from chopped tops
1 tsp. of garlic, minced
1 minced small bell pepper, red
4 cups of rice, brown or white, leftover
1 cup of chopped pineapple, fresh
1 cup of chopped ham or crumbled bacon
3 tbsp. of soy sauce, low sodium
2 tsp. of sugar, brown
1/2 tsp. of ginger, ground
4 or 5 eggs, scrambled
Salt, sea & pepper, ground, as desired
Instructions:
Heat the oil in a large-sized skillet on med. heat. When heated, add the red onions, firm green onion ends, bell peppers and garlic. Saut till the peppers are crisp-tender and the onions become fragrant.
As the veggies cook, whisk together the soy sauce, ginger and brown sugar and set the mixture aside.
Add the rice to the skillet. Stir and combine with the veggies and cook till the rice has heated fully through. Add the ham or bacon. Cook till heated well. Add the ginger mixture. Stir, combining well. Add the green onion tops & pineapple. Stir, combining well. Season as desired. Cover the skillet. Reduce heat level to low and keep the mixture warm.
In a separate frying pan, scramble the eggs. Mix into the first skillet and combine well. Serve promptly.
3 Loco Moco Breakfast
This is a hearty and flavorful breakfast dish from the Hawaiian islands. If you have leftover rice from a previous nights dinner, you can just warm that up.
