Noun Endings in -o and -a: Singular Forms Every Spanish noun has a gender, either masculine or feminine. Those nouns that refer to a male, such as father, brother, etc., are masculine. Those nouns that refer to a female such as mother, sister, etc., are feminine. For all other nouns, you must learn the gender. You can identify the gender of most Spanish nouns by their endings.
