Introduction
I love to have family and friends at my table. I love to entertain! But I think that entertaining can be a scary word for many and we dont want anyone to feel overwhelmed, so I present this book to you. Cooking for friends and family is a gift. When you spend time in the kitchen you show your love for those whom you are
cooking for.
People eat out or get takeout so frequently these days that entertaining at home is truly a treat. Visits with friends and family are more relaxed and more meaningful when you're at home. We are currently seeing a marked trend in a return to cooking at home. Our kitchens are now the new living rooms, making entertaining more casual and less daunting. I try to make my home welcoming by creating a help yourself atmosphere. You can set up areas of your kitchen, family room, living room, dining room, or any space that are inviting with simple touches like glasses near the wine bar or coffee cups near the coffee maker. I want my guests to be comfortable and relaxed, so as a hostess, I also need to be relaxed. While there are books that have been published on entertaining, they do not always include recipes that meet the American Diabetes Association standards. Make your experience be a healthy one!
My mission is to get the home cook to realize that cooking is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and can offer the added bonus of being more economical. When you cook, you are more in control of your food intake. Why not take this beyond your everyday meals into entertaining as well? You can eat better-quality food because it is more economical than prepared food. I provide a healthy pantry list as well as quick, delicious recipes that focus on the importance of fresh, quality ingredients. If you use quality ingredients, you have to do less to the dish and you save time. Also, cooking at home is more enjoyable than standing in a takeout line. I would much rather be relaxed at home in my bunny slippers, cooking for my family, than fighting the crowds at the takeout window. I encourage people to think of cooking as a pleasant experience. Relax, keep a well-stocked , and use my delicious, quick, and easy recipes that focus on quality of ingredients rather than lots of ingredients.
How to Read a Recipe
Are you sometimes confused or intimidated by the way a recipe is written? Do things come out differently than you expected? As a professional recipe developer, I follow certain guidelines, the gold standards, if you will, for writing recipes. My goal is to make my recipes as clear as possible so that you will enjoy cooking at home and do it more often.
