We met Lisa over a decade ago, when she started frequenting Candle Cafe, our first restaurant on the Upper East Side in New York City. We always make it a point to get to know our patrons, and it wasnt long before we struck up a friendship. It was always a good day when we strolled through the restaurant and spotted Lisa sitting at the bar chatting with staff, or at a table with friends. Our conversations about food, veganism and health are something we continue to cherish to this day. When we wrote our cookbook, Vegan Holiday Cooking from Candle Cafe, we asked Lisa if she would test recipes for us. In true Lisa spirit, she asked a lot of questions, gave us great suggestions and helped make our book the best it could be. That experience showed us that our missions are completely aligned. What a pleasure and a true honor it has been to follow Lisa as she has documented her food journey on her blog, Lisas Project: Vegan. We wholeheartedly share her passion for cooking tasty good food that happens to be vegan, and now she is sharing it for all to enjoy in this must-have cookbook.
Lisa makes it fun and delicious to cook with plants. Her innovative creations more than satisfy the palate as well as our nutritional needs. Lisa revitalizes old-time favorite recipes that wow even the most discerning eaters. Theres no mystery here. The clarity and timing of this book fully embraces the evidence-based premise that a plant-based diet dramatically prevents and reverses many of the typical Western diseases including heart disease, certain cancers, diabetes, obesity and more. It also dramatically decreases ones carbon footprint, as well as the hazards of climate change.
Lisa provides recipes for food that is better tasting, better for you and better for the planet. Those who are fully committed to a vegan lifestyle, and even those who are not, will appreciate how important this book is. Being in the kitchen with Lisa is natural and inviting. Just as with the Candle Restaurants OG motto, Food Fresh from Farm to Table, Lisas delicious plant-based recipes are not only inspiring, they also raise the proverbial bar to new heights. With inventive recipes for , this book is sure to become a standout in your vegan cookbook collection. You will enjoy making and eating these scrumptious vegan versions of all your favorites.
As we have been saying at the Candle Restaurants for over 30 years, Alls Well that Eats Well, which is clearly evidenced in Wait, Thats Vegan?! In Food We Trust, Joy Pierson & Bart Potenza
