Gauge 27 sts and 32 rows = 4 inches/10cm in St st. Exact gauge is not critical for this project.
StockingPattern StitchStripe *With A, work 4 rows in St st, beg with a RS row. With B, work 4 rows in garter st. Rep from * for pat.
Pattern Notes Sock is worked flat, beginning at bottom edge.
Carry yarn not in use up side of piece; do not cut. Stocking With A, cast on 48 sts. Working in Stripe pat throughout, work 11 rows. Set-up row (WS): P23, pm, purl to end. Dec row (RS): Knit to 2 sts before marker, k2tog, slip marker, k2, ssk, knit to end46 sts. Maintaining established Stripe pat, rep Dec row [every RS row] 6 more times34 sts.
Work 19 rows even, ending with completed A stripe. Cut A and B. Join C; knit 8 rows. Bind off. Finishing Fold piece in half to form a sock shape. Sew back and bottom seams.
Weave in all ends. Hanger With C, cast on 20 sts. Bind off all sts. Sew ends tog to make loop, then sew loop to top back of stocking. MittenCuff With E, cast on 36 sts. Work 6 rows in k2, p2 rib.
Knit 1 row. Cut E. Body Change to D. Beg with a WS purl row, work 3 rows in St st. Gusset set-up row (RS): K17, pm, [kfb] twice, pm, k174 gusset sts. Inc row (RS): Knit to marker, kfb, knit to 1 st before marker, kfb, knit to end6 gusset sts. Inc row (RS): Knit to marker, kfb, knit to 1 st before marker, kfb, knit to end6 gusset sts.
Continue in St st and rep Inc row [every RS row] twice more, ending with a WS row10 gusset sts. Transfer 17 sts on either side of markers to holders; do not cut yarn10 thumb sts rem. Thumb Wind off a couple yds of D from other end of ball to use for thumb. With RS facing, rejoin D to thumb sts. Work 6 rows in St st. Cut yarn, leaving a 10-inch tail.
Thread tail through rem sts and pull tight to close. Use tail to sew thumb seam. Body (continued) Transfer 34 sts from holders to needle. Work 12 rows in St st. Working all WS rows even, shape top as follows: Row 1 (RS): [K3, k2tog] 6 times, k428 sts. Row 5: [K1, k2tog] 7 times14 sts. Row 5: [K1, k2tog] 7 times14 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a 20-inch tail. Thread tail through rem sts and pull tight to close. Use tail to sew side seam. Weave in all ends. FinishingHanger With B, work as for stocking. Snowflake With B, cast on 6 sts, [bind off 5 sts, cast on 5 sts] 5 times, bind off 5 sts; fasten off.
Sew ends tog to make snowflake. Sew securely to center front of mitten (see photo). With B, embroider a French knot at end of each point. Christmas TreePocket With B, cast on 39 sts. Row 1 (RS): K1, [p1, k3] 9 times, p1, k1. Row 3: [K3, p1] 9 times, k3. Row 4: Purl. Row 4: Purl.
Rep [Rows 14] 6 more times. Knit 6 rows. Bind off. Cut yarn, leaving a 12-inch tail. Tree With C, cast on 15 sts. Dec row (RS): K1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k113 sts. Dec row (RS): K1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k113 sts.
Continuing in garter st, rep Dec row [every RS row] 3 more times, ending with a WS row7 sts. Next 2 rows (Cast-on rows): Cast on 3 sts, knit to end13 sts at end of 2nd row. Work Dec row [every RS row] 4 times, ending with a WS row5 sts. Work 2 Cast-on rows11 sts at end of 2nd row. Work Dec row [every RS row] twice7 sts. Cut yarn, leaving a 20-inch tail.
Thread tail through rem sts and pull tight to close top point. Trunk With F, cast on 5 sts. Knit 4 rows. Bind off. Cut yarn, leaving a 12-inch tail. Finishing With A, embroider French knots on tree for ornaments.
Use tail to sew outside edge of tree to center of pocket rectangle. With garter ridges vertical and using tail, sew trunk to pocket rectangle below tree. Sew side edges of rectangle tog to form back seam. With seam at center back, sew bottom edges tog. Sew button to top of tree. Button Loop With B, cast on 12 sts. Button Loop With B, cast on 12 sts.
Bind off all sts. Sew ends tog to make loop, then sew loop to top center back of pocket. Hanger With B, work as for stocking. Sew loop to top left of pocket. CupcakeSpecial AbbreviationMake 1 Left (M1L): Insert LH needle from front to back under horizontal strand between last st worked and next st on LH needle; knit through back of resulting loop. CupcakeMake 2. With B, cast on 20 sts.
Knit 2 rows. Work 14 rows in k1, p1 rib. Knit 4 rows. Cut B. Join F; work 2 rows in St st. Inc row (RS): [K1, kfb, k2] 5 times25 sts.
Work 7 rows in St st. Dec row (RS): K1, ssk, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k123 sts. Rep Dec row [every RS row] twice more, ending with a WS row19 sts. Next row: K1, [k2tog] 4 times, k111 sts. Purl 1 row. Bind off.
Beg at first Dec row and working to bottom edge, sew side edges tog; sew bottom closed, sew side edges tog to first Dec row. Weave in all ends. Gumdrop With A, cast on 3 sts. Row 1 (RS): [K1, M1] 3 times6 sts. Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl. Row 5: [K2, M1] 6 times18 sts. Row 7: Knit. Row 9: [K2tog] 9 times9 sts. Row 9: [K2tog] 9 times9 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a 12-inch tail. Thread tail through rem sts and pull tight. Use tail to sew seam and at the same time, insert stuffing. Sew gumdrop to top front center of cupcake. Make button loop same as for Christmas tree. Make hanger same as for stocking.
