FabricInstructions

Fabric 1: Cut 3 strips 2inches wide. Sub cut into 12 half square triangles using a halfsquare triangle ruler (see half square triangle instructions) and10 rectangles 8 inches long for sashing.

Fabric 2: Cut 2 strips 2inches wide. Sub cut into 24 squares for block, sashing and bordercornerstones.

Fabric 3: Cut 4 strips 2inches wide. Sub cut into 18 squares and use the remainder for theborder.

Fabric 4: Cut 4 strips 2inches wide. Sub cut into 12 half square triangles using a halfsquare triangle ruler (see half square triangle instructions), 6squares and use the remainder for binding.

Backing/Batting: Cut apiece of backing fabric and batting about 40 inches by 20inches.

QuiltingInstructions

1 Place pressed backing right side down on aflat surface large enough to lay - photo 8

1. Place pressed backing right side down on aflat surface large enough to lay flat and tape in place at sides,then corners.

2. Lay batting on top of backing and tape inplace at sides, then corners. (If using slippery batting, spraybaste to baking and top.)

3. Put pressed quilt on top right sideup.

4. Smooth borders and blocks square, pushingexcess toward middle. Quilting will take up slack and quilt willhang better.

5. Pin baste 3 to 4 inches apart in quartersdown length and width. Finish pin basting each quarter 3 to 4inches apart.

6. Quilt as desired using a walking foot.Adjust presser foot pressure to accommodate quilt thickness inorder prevent backing from sliding while quilting.

BindingInstructions

1 Sew strips together by laying ends rightsides together forming an L 2 Sew - photo 9

2. Sew on diagonal where fabrics cross fromupper left to lower right.

3. Trim excess to inch.

4. Repeat to make a continuous strip andpress seams open.

5. Fold and press strip lengthwise in halfwrong sides together.

6. Leaving a 5 inch tail, sew binding toquilt top matching raw edges with a inch seam.

7. Stop inch before corner with needledown.

8. Pivot work as if to sew next side andreverse sew off quilt top.

9. Fold binding back, creating a 45 degreefold, then fold forward matching fold to previously sewn side rawedge.

10. Continue sewing binding, and repeat abovefor each corner.

11. Stop sewing approximately 5 inches frombeginning.

12. Unfold and overlap ends.

13. Cut both ends at a 45 degree angle whereboth ends overlap by inch.

14. Match ends wrong sides together leavingequal dog ears and sew together with a inch seam.

15. Refold binding and finish sewing toquilt.

16. Wrapbinding to back and hand stitch to finish using a blind stitch.
