Quilt Patterns - image 1

I dedicate this book to my husband Donnie who is missed everyday also Karen Ann Quilan Hospice who took excellent care of him, joseph t quinlan bearevement center for helping me and my daughter through this difficult time in our lives and inspiring me.

Items needed: Sewing machine, needle and thread, rotary cutter and rotary mat, ruler, scissors, fabric, thing quilters batting, polyfil, zipper (when needed), can of air to clean bobbin compartment.

Items that could be made: Pillows, pillow covers, placemats, centerpieces for tables, wallhanging, or anything else you can think of.

Now lets get started
Pick your pattern and fabrics

Cut 2 inch strips of fabric, turn and cut 2 inch squares, counting as you go to make sure you have enough for your project. Any left over squares set aside and use them in other projects. Make all triangles and triangles first that you need for the project, always using a inch seam. Next work 1 row at a time marking the 1 st square on each row with the number of the row you are on, 1, 2, 3, etc. This helps to keep them in order when you get ready to assemble. Next lay each square out according to pattern in that row and sew, being very careful when you come to or triangles, making sure they are facing in the right direction. Pin rows together in numerical order, making sure seams match. Sew a 1/8 th inch seam around the edge to keep the edges from coming apart, iron using 2 pieces of thin quilters batting, with right sides together, sew inch seam leaving an opening for turning, hand or machine sew opening closed. For pillow stuff, poly fill in between layers of quilters batting. Stuff to desire. For pillow covers, omit batting and measure for zipper, sew inch around. Pin zipper in and sew. Quilt around picture (as machine sew) to attach front, back and middle together. Then enjoy your project.
