Really quick before you begin diving into this text, I will be giving you a quick rundown of what you can expect within this book. Within the first chapter we will go over the basics of what manipulation psychology is and the history behind the psychology of manipulation. After this we will go into why people choose to manipulate others and where manipulation tends to pop up the most in the average person's life. Within the next chapter we will go through some common expressions of manipulation that you may experience in everyday life. We will explain and give the most common methods or tactics of emotional manipulation that we see every day. You can apply these to both romantic and platonic relationships as well as relationships within the workplace. These range from tactics such as raising your voice and lying. You'll go over many more than those two that is just a standard. Within the third chapter you will go into some in-depth techniques of manipulation, these will be more complicated and slightly more difficult to understand than the tactics and methods of the previous chapter. We will go through methods such as projection, denial, intimidation, conditioning, stalking, and much, much more. In addition, we will explain how words tend to contribute to emotional manipulation.
You will begin to understand how dependent people are on language and how, as a result, this language can influence people. Within the fourth chapter we will begin to discuss the power of persuasion. I will give a brief history of the origins of the art of persuasion dating all the way back to the ancient Greeks. I will then begin to explain how persuasion can be used in our everyday lives from business transactions to simple negotiations. Within the 5th chapter we will begin to discuss something brand-new, neuro-linguistic programming. I will give an in-depth background and history on the origins of neuro-linguistic programming and will explain how neurolinguistics programming is used to manipulate and manage those around you. Within the 6th chapter we will begin to use our learned skills to gain friends. In other words, I will go through the skills that I have taught you in the previous chapter and explain how they can be used to in the social sphere or simply the workplace. In the 7th chapter I will explain how you can avoid manipulation within a relationship. More specifically I will explain how you can spot manipulation with you or others and how to avoid a relationship with manipulative tendencies. In the 8th chapter I will go over specifically manipulation within the workplace and how to spot it. In the ninth and Final Chapter we will go through how you can defend yourself against manipulation. I will go through each tactic that we have discussed previously and give a brief description on how you can defend yourself against it. I will also go into how positive self-esteem can be used to overcome manipulative tendencies. Because of the importance of positive self-esteem in fighting manipulation I will also give some tips and tricks on how to improve self-esteem over time. Within all of this text you will learn many very useful skills you can use in everyday life. A lot of the skills within this text are not just manipulative skills that can be used to manipulate those around you but also skills to fight back against manipulation and prevent manipulation in everyday life. A good portion of this text is also a history lesson. I teach a lot of history in this text on the background of different types of psychology and different psychologists that indicated certain ideals and theories. This is a very educational text that will greatly benefit you in the following ways. This text can help you learn how to better manage your social life, as well as get ahead financially. This book truly is a jack of all trades and can be treated as such during the reading.
Chapter One: What is Manipulation Psychology and Why do People Manipulate Others?
Im sure we have all felt manipulated at some point or another. Manipulation has been present in our society since the beginning of time. In some form or another manipulation is apparent every day in our lives. But what is involved in the psychology behind manipulation? What drives individuals, on a psychological level, to manipulate others? Within this chapter I will cover all of this and more.
Manipulation Psychology, what is it?
Before delving deep into how you can use manipulation to your benefit, I have to give you an idea of what psychological manipulation actually is. First and foremost, manipulation is a form of social influence in which the goal is to change the behavior of those around you through abusive, or deceptive messages. This is often used to benefit the interests of the manipulator, usually to the expense of those around them. words used to describe manipulative psychology are those such as, exploitive, abusive, devious, and deceptive. Despite its connection to manipulation, an act that is inherently negative, the act of social influencing is not always damaging or abusive. An example of this is when someone's friends, family, and doctors will try to change the mindset of someone who has unhealthy habits and behaviors. In a normal context social influence is typically harmless in the fact that the individual being influenced is easily able to accept or reject it. The difference between this and manipulation is that social influence is not necessarily coercive and does not typically use underhanded methods to change a person's behavior. That being said, social influence and manipulation go hand-in-hand, as manipulation cannot exist without social influence. Another, less negative term used for manipulation is persuasion. Persuasion is used in a variety of ways in our everyday life. From advertisements, to trying to decide what to eat, everything around us is trying to persuade us to do certain things at certain times. But what is the difference between persuasion and manipulation? persuasive reasoning can be traced all the way back to the ancient Greeks with Aristotle's ideas of logos, pathos, and ethos. When looking at these three persuasive methods we can see that these are the building blocks of what would later become the basis for manipulation psychology, the subject of this text. The differences between persuasion and manipulation lies and the requirements for successful manipulation. The first of these requirements is the need to conceal aggressive intentions and behaviors. The second is having to know the person that is being manipulated. This means that you have to be aware of their psychological vulnerabilities and must be able to accurately decide which tactics are going to be the most effective. Finally, the last requirement for successful manipulation is having a particular level of ruthlessness and not caring about the harm that may befall the victim. Manipulation most commonly is achieved through the use of covert aggression. In colloquial terms this is also known as passive aggression.
