A NOTE FROM THE DUNGYS
Welcome to Your Journey to an Uncommon Marriage

We are so glad you have joined us on this adventure to an uncommon marriage! After more than thirty years together, we are still learning about marriage, about each other, and about Gods desires for us as a couple. Weve been through a lot big victories, devastating losses, and everything in between. But through it all weve experienced Gods faithfulness. Weve witnessed firsthand that His plan for marriage is good, and were eager to share a few of the things Hes taught us along the way.

Over the years weve mentored a number of couples including friends from church and young football players and their wives and weve also shared some of our marriage journey with the members of the small group that meets at our home. We wish our living room were big enough to invite all of you over to talk about marriage and the good things God has planned for you and your spouse. But since there would be some logistical issues with that, wed like to invite you to join us on the pages of this study instead.

May the Lord bless you as you grow deeper in your marriage and strengthen your bond with the teammate God has given you.

Tony and Lauren Dungy

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help.

HOW TO USE THIS BIBLE STUDY

This five-week study is designed to be used in a variety of ways: in a small group setting, in a mens or womens study, in conjunction with a church-wide campaign, or one-on-one with your spouse.

To get the most out of this study, you will need a Bible and the book Uncommon Marriage, which tells the story of the Dungys marriage and provides the context for the questions and discussion topics in this book. (Please note that the chapter numbers that follow quotes from Tony and Lauren in this study tell you where to find that passage in Uncommon Marriage.)

Although the book and the study can be used separately, you will benefit most from the experience if you use these resources in conjunction. This study includes suggested readings from Uncommon Marriage to correspond with each weeks session.

Here are a few ideas about how you can implement this Bible study in a variety of contexts.

IN A COUPLES SMALL GROUP

You may want to participate in this study with a small group, with several sets of friends, or with a Sunday school class. The ideal group size is three to six couples, but depending on the format of your group, you could also meet as a larger group for part of the discussion and then break into smaller groups for sharing and prayer. Some groups meet on a weekly basis; others find it works better to meet every other week. You can determine the schedule that best suits the needs of your group.

IN A MENS OR WOMENS STUDY
Another option is to go through this study in an all-mens or an all-womens - photo 4
