Molecular Pathology and the Dynamics of Disease: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "Molecular Pathology and the Dynamics of Disease" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

Molecular Pathology and the Dynamics of Disease bridges the basic science of, and primary clinical literature on, human disease. Topics covered include several major disease areas, such as inflammation and host response, vascular disease, obesity, weight regulation and appetite, cancer biology, drug development, and gene- and cell-based therapeutics that are all presented in a way that emphasizes the interplay between clinical care and investigation. As new technologies and techniques are constantly changing and laboratory scientists plays a critical role in validating data used by clinicians in diagnosing patients, this book provides a timely guide that includes a clinical, research and theory perspective.

  • Assimilates theoretical knowledge with practical lab work
  • Provides a needed clinical perspective, along with research and theory
  • Highlights the impact of basic science on the practice of medicine

Dedication

Nothing in life happens without support. My loving familymy husband and my beautiful children. They have endured my late night writing and early morning discussions of the topics within this book.

The goal has been achieved of leaving a legacy and body of work for my children and future generations to be proud of from this moment forward.

Enjoy!

Preface

Maika G. Mitchell

Molecular Pathology and the Dynamics of Disease, the first edition, is the improved understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms of diseases. Novel molecular assays not only aid in a disease diagnosis, but also disease prognosis. Similarly modulation of biological pathways for the treatment of a disease is becoming a reality. The molecular structure and function of a normal and abnormal gene product enables the determination of highly relevant diagnostic, therapeutic, and prognostic information.

Classically trained physicians and scientists, respectively, are bombarded daily with basic standard-of-care and translational data on the mechanisms of health and disease. It is of great significance to generate technological resources capable of:

  1. 1. bridging chemistry and pathology, and molecular medicine;
  2. 2. providing a unique educational resource to the physician-scientist and researchers keeping abreast of the timely advances, evolving modalities, and shifting paradigms; and
  3. 3. providing fundamental SOPs detailing concepts in molecular medicine. Molecular Pathology and the Dynamics of Disease is a compilation of a broad range of topics in pathogenesis that serves as a unique, timely, and comprehensive resource for practicing physicians, researchers, and data scientists (bioinformaticians) in the ever-evolving field of integrative and personalized medicine.

Molecular Pathology and the Dynamics of Disease integrates the traditional knowledge of physiological and pathological processes with a balanced emphasis on fundamental concepts, timely advances in cellular and molecular mechanisms, and applied pathology. The textbook is organized into several sections, each of which includes chapters that progressively and cohesively elaborate on pertinent SOPs in molecular medicine and molecular pathology.

The textbook is written and presented as a one-stop and comprehensive reference on molecular medicine for basic, translational and clinical researchers, bioinformaticians, and physicians. I anticipate this textbook to be of value to pathologists, oncologists, molecular biologists, physiologists, biochemists, and immunohistochemists. This textbook is also suitable for medical students, graduate students, residents, clinical laboratorians, and fellows with an interest in molecular biology. The format of the textbook is meant to serve as a ready reference to relevant topics in the molecular-based medicine, thus providing a practical disease-based integrative resource on the molecular pathology of disease.

Chapter 1
Molecular Pathology Introduction and Research Review
Abstract

Molecular pathology, a rapidly expanding discipline connecting pathology and molecular biology, is providing a deeper insight and understanding of the molecular basis of the etiology and pathogenesis of human disease. This well-laid-out book covers the basic principles of molecular pathology, explains the most important molecular diagnostic techniques in user-friendly language, and describes their applications across a broad range of human diseases and problems, including cancer, hereditary disorders, identity testing, and infectious diseases.
