2. Search Engine Optimization(SEO). What Is It?
The concept of SEO was largely unknown until the last few decades. People were unfamiliar with the concept of using SEO techniques and tools to manage their websites. Businesses could not conceive that SEO can help them improve the ranking of their websites, inviting maximum web traffic, attracting more customers towards their brands and they compete strongly with their competitors in the market. The advent of the internet made the SEO come into view.
If we were going to talk about the development of the SEO concept, then the number of pages or files that the first search engines used to maintain were between hundreds and thousands only and there were perhaps two to three thousand search inquires per day. Now the top search engines index consists of three trillion pages and supply around three billions inquires per day.
In this section of the book, I will tell you about how search engines really perform these large-scale tasks and how they influence the ranking of your website.
Each search engine has particular criteria for ranking websites. With each inquiry entered by users, the search engine is crawls into the websites and chooses the best ones that successfully meet the criteria. These are the websites that search engines consider the most favorable and outstanding result in response to a specific inquiry.
When you enter any word or phrase (keyword) into a search engine, the first page you see, shows the most optimized websites in response to your inquiry.
The SEO techniques that most businesses are practicing basically take into account the operation of the different search engines, what keywords that visitors have been searching for, the importance and density of those keywords and what search engines the majority of people use.
For businesses that lack the internal experience to develop and operate their own SEO marketing campaign, they often will subcontract it to SEO companies, which join together to make their website the most optimized as possible. SEO companies hire SEO writers, designers, content providers, link builders, lead generators, affiliates and etc. All of these are SEO practices.
As you read this book, you will become acquainted with how you can seek good and effective SEO techniques and practices for your own website. If you adopt them accordingly, you can improve your ranking in a very short time frame. It is very likely that next time you check your website, it will appear on the 1 st page of Googles search results.
