8 - The Importance of Content
To fully understand the importance of content for a website and its rankings we need to go back to what a search engine is actually about and what it was made for.
The goal of a search engine is to provide its users with the best and most informative content. If someone is putting a term in a search engine, he is looking for an answer to his question or for a solution to his problem. Search engines want to understand the search intent of its users to provide them with the result they are looking for.
As Google and its algorithms are getting smarter and smarter, it's important to rely on high-quality content. Search engines understand if your content is informative or not. That's why even the best-optimized content won't rank if it doesn't provide value to its readers.
If you want to convince Google and other search engines long-term, it's necessary to rely on SEO Content that offers value and information.
Together with a technically accurate website and a safe link building strategy you can increase any websites rankings.
SEO isn't some magical thing with one secret that will bring a website from 0 to 100 in a few weeks. It's basically about creating a high-quality website that provides people with what they're looking for and that offers lots of value and information.
To get to that point a website has to...
- Be technically optimized: No broken links, no missing meta descriptions, fast loading speed.
- Provide its users with high-quality content, value and information.
- Make people aware of its brand by getting links from other websites and shares on social media.

1 - What the Heck Is SEO?
SEO is the short version of "Search Engine Optimization". It describes the technique of optimizing a website to improve its visibility on Google. The goal is to rank the pages of a website higher on Google, which will result in more website visitors.
Search engine optimization is only about increasing the organic traffic . That means that all ways of getting traffic except unpaid search results (incl. Google Ads/PPC) aren't part of SEO.
It can be split into the three following parts:
Technical SEO: This is about the technical performance of a website. It includes parts like loading speed, indexing and crawling, website structure, URL structure, interlinking and much more.
On-Page SEO: This is all about content. It includes texts, images, videos and audio files that are visible on a website. It also includes things that are only visible for search engines like heading tags, image attributes and more.
Off-Page SEO: This is about everything that doesn't happen on a website itself. Off-Page SEO has the goal to improve a website's authority to show search engines that it's relevant. It includes the practice of link building.
In the rest of this Ebook we will take a look at all of these three parts and what they include.
2 - Why Is SEO Important?
Before we start to talk about the different ranking factors and how to improve a website's rankings, it's important to know why SEO is important and why businesses, either if they are big or small, should actually invest in the optimization of their websites.
There are multiple advantages of optimizing a website. Let's talk about the most important ones.
More Website Visitors
The first point is the most obvious and the main reason why businesses invest in SEO. They want to drive more people to their company's website to attract more potential customers.
More Sales
To have more website visitors is a cool thing, but in the end it's just a number and doesn't bring anything to a business if it doesn't increase its sales.
At this point it's important to prepare the right strategy for turning the website visitors into customers. If the optimization of a website leads to more people visiting the product pages of an E-commerce shop, it's obvious that they will increase its sales.
But there are multiple examples of how more website visitors will increase a company's sales.
It's All Passive
Another factor that makes search engine optimization interesting is that the generated sales & leads are passive ! Organic traffic has the advantage that you dont need to run any ads, but you will still get visitors.
Let's compare it with another way of getting people to a website social media marketing. It's truly a great way to get leads to a website, but as soon as you stop running ads and dont post for one or even more weeks you wont have leads and as a result of that also wont have sales.
SEO is all about organic traffic. This has the big advantage that it's ongoing so it can lead to a constant minimum of website visitors and (if done correctly) a constant minimum of sales .
It's Long-Term
This kind of goes together with the previous point. Organic traffic is much more long-term and persistent than any other way of generating leads. It takes more time to see results, but as soon as Google realizes the quality of a website you can be pretty sure to have ongoing leads .
That gives website owners and businesses safety, as even during a time when a business doesn't have enough resources to invest in marketing channels or a channel doesnt work as expected there will still be "safe sales".
3 - What You Need to Know About Search Engines
Before trying to understand how to influence a website's ranking in search engines, it makes sense to understand what a search engine actually is and how it works.
What Is a Search Engine?
A search engine basically contains two parts - a big database full of information and an algorithm that finds the most relevant information for a special search query.
