Introduction

It only takes seven days to get sexy? That is the first question that blurts out of peoples mouths when I introduce this book. Yes! The truth is, you are already sexy. Sex is how you got here, and it is a deeply ingrained trait that we all share. Of course, we each have our own spin on itthank goodness! One could argue that seven minutes is all it takes to bring out the sexybut what we are discussing here are proven beauty tips and procedures that allow us to unleash our sexiest self within seven days. This book incorporates what we have learned from human sexuality research, what we see in pop culture, and what Ive learned from some of our sexiest icons that I know to point us in the right direction. Then it provides you with information and accessible products and procedures to help you realize a seven-day, seven-week, seven-month plan to become your absolute best.

What do you envision when you hear the word sexy? For some, the image of a particular supermodel, actress, or celebrity may come to mind. For others, sexy may suggest a certain attire, look, or demeanor. You might even link sexy to one person who epitomizes the word. Words associated with sexy typically include sultry, seductive, alluring, and stunning. Each of these perspectives help us understand what sexy is, but defining and knowing sexy often escapes one definitive concept. Why? Because each of us is unique and adopts a different vision and idea about sexiness.

Certainly, nuances exist, and what you find sexy naturally varies a bit from the next person. Thats a good thing. Otherwise, we would all be seeking the same person while conforming to a norm. But at the same time, we can agree that specific features are appealing. For example, the cartoon character Jessica Rabbit is considered sexy for a reasonbecause she has many of the features we typically find sensually arousing. Shiny hair, a curvaceous figure, and long eyelashes are some of her most prominent attributes that we associate with being sexy. Not everyone, or even many, have this Sopha Vergaralike figure, however we all could benefit from optimizing our own unique features in a way that increases our confidence and external appeal.

When it comes to locking down whats sexy, the ultimate definition is certainly in the eye of the beholder. However, we know that certain features or traits consistently trigger positive emotions in us. For example, you might be attracted to a man who is more rugged in appearance while someone else finds a polished aristocrat more appealing. We also have individual preferences. But when comparing the two men, both could likely have the same square jawline, nice teeth, a muscular chest, beautiful wavy hair, and smooth, healthy skin. When it comes down to itcertain features are consistently sexy.

People often say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder. This empowers us to find beauty in places where others have not dared to look, including inside ourselves. Salma Hayek

Lucky for us, there is a wealth of information about human sexuality that we can call upon to assist in our understanding. Studies have shown that what we perceive as sexy is fairly consistent, and these findings have resulted in the advancement of specific fields of science. Hundreds of studies involving evolutionary psychology support the notion that many of the things we routinely find sexy relate to fertility and procreation. A small waist-to-hip ratio and larger breasts in women have been linked to sexual attractiveness and clearly support a fertility perspective. Men with a chiseled body and a strong jawline are presumed to have greater virility. And shiny hair, beautiful teeth, healthy skin, and a toned body are linked to youthfulness, which also implies enhanced fertility. Sexy features and beautiful features are often indistinguishable.

Behavioral psychology has found similar patterns when it comes to sexy. Flirtatiously playing with your hair draws attention to your face and highlights your more sensual attributes. A steady gaze with open eyes and long eyelashes creates a sense of trust and reliability, which supports a sexual relationship. Even color choices in clothing and lipstick have been linked to perceptions about sexual attractiveness or readiness by men who were studied gazing at their photos. This is how we harness subliminal messaging. Like our appearance, the way we behave also signals our level of health, fertility, virility, and youthfulnessand we will delve into what movements, actions, postures, etc. can be employed to send out a sexy vibe. Some are subtler than others; some may not feel like they fit you. We will discuss how to harness your best you by choosing which aspects feel right to you from the wealth of information in this book. Learning how to harness our movements and behaviors can bring out our inner sexy and call attention to our most attractive features.
