Introduction

YouTube is one website that can truly be considered a game-changer. Before now, the only people you saw on your screen were the professionals, people paid to say their piece to camera. Then one day everything changed; anyone could record a video and share it with the rest of the world. As this model no longer relied on viewing figures, the variety of content available increased exponentially, with people all over the planet filming whatever it was that pleased them , rather than the advertisers .

There are some amazing videos to see, the best of which could easily be considered the Citizen Kane s of the 21 st century. Then there are those videos which you reach at the end of a click marathon, and even though you dont know why youre still watching, you cant bring yourself to look away. This collection presents you with thirty videos that sit firmly in both categories: the cream of the crop of the weirdest videos on YouTube. Be warned, though... once you have seen these clips, you can never un see them. They will remain imprinted on your consciousness for evermore, fodder for your strangest dreams and your worst nightmares. Dare you watch them?

You know from the first three seconds of this video that you should click on a different one now . But somehow you cant. Somehow you just cant look away. What did she say? What is wrong with her? Whats the deal with the creepy music? Why? Just... Why? Disturbing is an understatement.

Oh, Whale Man! You truly are the worlds favourite superhero! I just love how you hop around your bedroom, listening to Tina Turner with that cant-really-be-explained tube in your mouth, flopping your flippers about and falling over onto your bed. Ill be honest though... its not really much of an adventure , is it?

Hey, you wanna see a video of some weird robotic stripper in a goblin mask dancing for your pleasure? No? Dont lie, you cant wait! It might not be so bad if it didnt look like the android (or whatever it is) had been dragged through a bush, or had just stepped out of a bad car crash. And I know I have mentioned it already, but what is the deal with that goblin mask? Hmmm, perhaps its better we dont know.

4 - Poodle Exercise with Humans

You know how sometimes youre looking for a new workout to try, and finally you find one that is just the right level for you? It might be some-minute-abs, or a workout specific to a particular part of your body youre not too happy with - your calves perhaps. Well, this is definitely not that video. Unless youre a poodle. Yes, if youre a poodle, or a human with poodle arms (just watch it) then this is almost certainly the most relevant workout video on YouTube. For anyone else, stay away. Stay well away. Old this video might well be, but weird it without a doubt is - and weird is what this list is all about.

So, this video starts by telling us about a videocassette tape found in a pile of rubbish on a certain blue planet. But were then told the video were about to watch is not from that tape. Great, thanks . What we are about to watch however is perhaps one of the most trippy videos youre ever likely to see. It starts off looking like it could be a scene from a kids cartoon, but then... then... I dont think the words exist to describe what happens. And... what does agamemnon counterpart actually mean? Why no capitals? Is this some kind of message? Whats with the cartoon kid without a face? The letter a? The screams that sound like they come to you directly from hell? Oh god, now the kid has his own head for eyes. Maybe if youve eaten some of the mushrooms that horse-head guy has prepared for you, this video makes perfect sense. But for the rest of us...

8 - Little Babys Ice Cream This is a Special Time

OK, so this is probably just some weirdos idea of an art project, just like a whole host of other semi-weird videos out there. But you cant shake the feeling theres something more going on here, something that has just stepped over the line between art project and genuinely confusing. And despite the weirdness, at the end, for some godforsaken reason , I really wanted a bowl of ice cream...

9 - HAND THING

If you asked me what I believed was the strangest video in this collection, Id have to pick this one. Yes, the hand thing. Shaye, I heard youre doing the hand thing today - for some reason, when awaking from a nightmare, I can sometimes still hear those words reverberating around my brain. Once youve spent a while trying to figure out what in darnation is the point of this video (and I suppose what the hand thing is) then you can amuse/disturb yourself by reading up on ShayeSaintJohn who even has her own website. Shaye, please stay away from my nightmares, theyre bad enough without your hand thing.

10 - WTF - Inflatable Superman

You know how sometimes youll watch something thats funny, then it continues happening and the funniness wears off... and then continues some more until it becomes completely hilarious again? Well, heres a great example. Why someone decided to film themselves wearing an enormous inflatable Superman suit only they can really know, but in a way Im actually kind of glad they did. Yes, its five minutes of my life Ill never get back, but just think how long you spend queueing for stuff, or other pointless activities. Compared to that kind of daily boredom, this is five minutes of heaven. Weird heaven yes, but...
