It is estimated that 70 percent of all Americans have experienced some sort of trauma. Those numbers are staggering. 20 percent of those numbers go on to develop PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

EFT Tapping is something anyone can do. You can look at it like its just another weapon in your arsenal. If you are seeing a Mental Health Provider, and on medication, please do not use EFT Tapping as a replacement. This is something that you can do to add to the treatments already put in place.

Its difficult to face those things that hurt you. For many of us, we just want to forget that they happened and move on. No one wants to go back and re-live it. What would you say if someone walked up to you and told that facing your pain was the only way to be healed? What would you say if the very thing you dont want to do, is the only thing to make it go away? I will go further to say that sometimes we have to face the things that hurt us so that we can be free.

Over the years, more and more people are turning to prescriptions, and counseling to combat the debilitating symptoms of trauma. Americans spend nearly 20 billion dollars a year on depression. There are numerous prescriptions out there to treat the effects of trauma, but amazingly enough, no cure.

Medicine has a way of evolving. Every year we see the latest and greatest medicines, gadgetry, and practices to help those things that ail you, but ancient medicine seems to have known all along that the body is a dynamic machine; created to heal, capable of healing itself.

The art of Acupuncture has been around for centuries. Historians tell us that it dates all the way back to the 1700s. Acupuncture influences the flow of energy in the body, and when the bodys energy is disrupted, it causes illness; emotional, mental and physical. It is a practice that involves years of extensive training and cant be used for self-treatment.

In the 90s, a new technique was discovered. It uses the principles of acupuncture, but without the needles. It is called EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques).

By using the same energy points found in the body, called Meridian Points, you can tap these energy points to stimulate them, causing the body to heal. It is a very simple technique that can be done at home. If you have tried everything to relieve the symptoms of trauma, if you are facing huge emotional barriers that are affecting your life, or if you suffer from chronic pain and sickness, EFT may be an option for you.

In this book, we are going to take a close look at EFT Tapping, and the steps to not only learn it, but put it into practice. At the end of the book, I have outlined a 30-Day-Challenge for you. As the quote above states, by all means, keep moving Lets journey together on the road to healing and freedom.

Chapter One- What is EFT?

EFT is Emotional Freedom Techniques. It is based on the principles of acupuncture, and acupressure. You tap on selected targets while focusing your attention on precise physical and/or emotional reactions to traumatic events both past and present. This procedure is used to work through those conditions that affect your current physical and mental health.

The techniques are very easy to learn, in fact, you can do them at home, and it will cost you nothing but time. There are people out there that will pay for a professional to perform these techniques for them, but if you are like me, you dont have millions of dollars to pay them.

Another benefit of EFT is that no matter the issue, the tapping techniques never change. Once you learn them, you can adapt them to your preference. If one technique doesnt work, you can try a new one until you find that tapping sequence that brings you relief.

I have always been one of those people who just need to know how something works. I want to know the science behind it. Im the one who asks the who, what, when, where, and why? So, lets take a look at it together.

Who :

Dr. Rodger Callahan is the one who discovered EFT Tapping. He had a patient that had suffered debilitating fear about being in water. He began tapping a meridian point under her eye, and the fear went away. Along with the fear, so did her headaches.

What :

With EFT, you stimulate the bodys meridian points. We will discuss these energy points in full, in another chapter. These points on the body are the same energy points used in acupuncture and acupressure. The stimulation reduces the activity in the part of our brain called, The Amygdala.

An excellent word-picture in describing this part of our brain would be an alarm system. When we go through trauma, and sickness, the alarm goes off and our bodies begin to flood our system with Cortisol. Cortisol is a stress hormone.

It is believed that the power of traumatic events over the stress hormone, Cortisol, effects the body so strongly that both mental and physical illness can be contributed to this hormone. EFT Tapping Therapy uses the meridian points to relieve the stress these negative memories cause. By relieving the Cortisol production, you relieve the stress leaving you free so that you are able to process and heal.

When :

When we experience trauma or fear, this alarm goes off and the body gets filled with Cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone that our bodies produce when we are afraid, or sick.

Where :

Cortisol is produced in the brain. It is known as the Stress Hormone. This stress hormone can influence or cause emotional and mental problems going on to cause physical sickness if it is not cleared out of your system.

Why :

Trauma, Finances, Sex, Bills, and Relationships are just a small part of the list that causes stressful areas of your life. Cortisol is built up when facing the problems that cause stress.

EFT Tapping helps you pin-point the problem, teaches you to face it head-on, and then stimulate energy points in the body to help break down the cortisol in your body, relaxing the body enough to begin to heal.

As I said earlier, we will discuss the Meridian Points further on in the book, but Id like to touch on the different points of the body that can be stimulated using EFT techniques.

Chapter Two -The Evolution of EFT Tapping-

The Practice of EFT Tapping has been around for over 20 years. It has also evolved and changed, producing greater results. The different techniques come by many different names. Classic EFT Techniques as founded by Dr. Roger Callahan, Modern Energy Tapping, Positive EFT, Energy EFT, Optimal EFT, Faster EFT, Matrix Re-Imprinting, TBT, and SET.
