Series Foreword
The second edition of the Genitourinary Radiology: A Core Review builds on the success of the first edition by covering the essential aspects of genitourinary radiology in a manner that serves as a guide for residents to assess their knowledge and review the material in a format that is similar to the ABR core examination.
The print copy of the Genitourinary Radiology: A Core Review, second edition, still contains 300 questions. Some questions from the first edition have been kept, and some have been removed due to no longer being relevant in current practice. Many new questions have been added to the second edition, with the eBook containing 344 questions.
Dr. Davenport has done an excellent job in producing a book that exemplifies the philosophy and goals of the Core Review Series. He has done a meticulous job in covering key topics and providing quality images. The questions have been divided logically into chapters so as to make it easy for learners to work on particular topics as needed. There are mostly multiple-choice questions with some extended matching questions. Each question has a corresponding answer with an explanation of not only why a particular option is correct but also why the other options are incorrect. There are also references provided for each question for those who want to delve more deeply into a specific subject.
The intent of the Core Review Series is to provide the resident, fellow, or practicing physician a review of the important conceptual, factual, and practical aspects of a subject with multiple choice questions in a format similar to the ABR core examination. The Core Review Series is not intended to be exhaustive but to provide material likely to be tested on the ABR core examination and that would be required in clinical practice.
As Series Editor of the Core Review Series, it has been rewarding to not only be a coeditor of one of the books in this series but to work with so many talented individuals in the profession of radiology across the country. This series represents countless hours of work and involvement by many, and it would not have come together without their participation. It has been very gratifying to receive numerous positive comments from residents of the difference they feel the series has made in their board preparation.
I would like to thank Dr. Matthew Davenport for his dedication to the series and for doing an exceptional job on the second edition. I believe Genitourinary Radiology: A Core Review, second edition, will serve as a valuable resource for residents during their board preparation and a useful reference for fellows and practicing radiologists.

Preface
This second edition of Genitourinary Imaging: A Core Review is designed to prepare learners studying for the ABR core examination and for practicing radiologists undergoing Maintenance of Certification. It covers many aspects of genitourinary radiology, including image acquisition physics, contrast media administration, iatrogenic adverse events, image-based diagnosis, quality and safety, percutaneous biopsy and drainage catheter techniques, disease management, research study design, and medical ethics. Where possible, I have included and cited established guidelines for safe and effective practice. In this second edition, new questions and content have been added and the existing text has undergone major revision to provide readers with modern relevant information. I hope you have as much fun reading it as I had writing it.
There are many who have had and continue to have a major influence on my life and this work, and it would be impossible to thank them all.
