This book serves as a board review book for cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR). CMR is now an essential part of cardiology training and there is yet to be a dedicated review book for the topic. This book seeks to fill that gap. With 150 questions and answers, this review provides a comprehensive and easily readable educational tool for trainees and cardiologists. The book is divided into 10 chapters, each about 15 questions. The multiple-choice questions cover topics according to the board examinations blueprints, including a wide spectrum of cardiac pathologies and concepts. Answers are supported by concise summaries and explanations to aid understanding. Each question also includes links to the latest resources and literature. This book helps readers not only prepare for CMR boards, but provides a good review of anatomy and pathology for cardiac imagers.

Drs. Al-Kindi and Janus are both certified by American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine, certified by National Board of Echocardiography, and in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging by Certification Board of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CBCMR) . We would like to thank our co-authors/co-contributors Dr. Imran Rashid and Dr. Sanjay Rajagopalan for their partial review of the materials. We must thank our wonderful nurses (Sara Palker and Ellen Musarra), technologists (Jason Eastman, Bridget Razem, June James, and Amanda Maguire), and administrative personnel (Daniela Riggio) for helping take care of our patients and acquire these images. 2. (B)

    T1 (Short/Short) and T2 (Long/Long)

  3. (C)

  4. (D)

    T1 (Short/Long) and T2 (Long/Short)

The correct answer is B. On spin echo imaging, the repetition time (TR) and the echo time (TE) are used to help weigh the image and control image contrast. To produced T1-weighted image, a short TE and TR is required. T2-Weighted images require long TR and long TE as shown in figure [].

A line graph of longitudinal magnetization versus time plots an increasing trend. The left side of the concave downward curve is labeled short T 1, and the right side with long T 1. The arrow labeled at the bottom demonstrates the larger differentiation of tissues based on T 1 compared to the arrow at the top.
