As a physician, I have seen first-hand the great benefits that restoring and supporting healthy detoxification through juice fasting and therapeutic diets has created for thousands of my patients. I have found that the unhealthy lifestyle of many of the patients that I work with takes a real toll on their wellness and, often, contributes greatly to their health issues.
Many of my patients tell me that they eat too much unhealthy, rich food and drink coffee or alcoholic beverages in excess of what their bodies can actually handle. This is also true for millions of people in our country. This includes spraying the lawn with herbicides, eliminating insects with pesticides, and using toxic solvents for cleaning. New carpets and upholstery also outgas toxic chemicals.
Similarly, Western medicine treats most health problems by using drugs to suppress symptoms rapidly but may cause potentially toxic side effects. These are only a few examples of the many toxins that we are exposed to on a constant, even daily, basis.
In order to remain in good health, the body must break down and eliminate all of these toxins on a continual basis. In addition, the body must similarly process the by-products of its own metabolism that, if allowed to accumulate in the body, could cause serious illness or even death. This process is called detoxification and it is one of the most essential processes necessary to keep our bodies healthy and disease-free.
Detoxification is one of our bodys most essential physiological functions. Detoxification refers to the process of neutralizing or transforming substances that normally would be poisonous or harmful, and eliminating them from the body. Without proper detoxification, toxic substances would accumulate within the body and impair our health by interfering with the function of all our vital organ systems.
Poor detoxification also contributes to many common health issues. These include heart disease, obesity, headaches, cancer, brain fog, chronic fatigue, anxiety and depression and a host of other health issues. Thus, restoring healthy detoxification is an essential part of the healing process for many health conditions. I have seen this over and over again with my own patients.
To jump start the healing process, many of my patients have expressed interest in juice fasting and detoxification diets. I have given my patients helpful guidelines, programs and very beneficial recipes to facilitate this process so that they could carry out these therapeutic dietary programs successfully and avoid any possible pitfalls.

It is essential to have healthy detoxification. Detoxification produces many benefits including increased physical vitality and stamina; enhanced mental clarity and acuity; greater ability to remain calm under pressure and increased resistance to illness; good social skills and the ability to get along with other people.
Additional health benefits of detoxification include elimination of toxins from the body, protection of the nervous systems, reduction of the risk of heart disease, cancers, and other degenerative conditions and hormone-related conditions like PMS, fibroid tumors, endometriosis and breast cancer. It also helps support balanced, healthy mood and emotions and a high level of energy.
The liver is our primary organ of detoxification. It is the main interface between both ingested and intern-ally created toxins and all the cells of our bodies. If the liver can handle the toxic load we put on our bodies, we can perform at our best and remain healthy. If liver function is impaired, however, performance is negatively affected in many different ways.
