Training a dog sounds like a ton of fun to many people. The idea of owning a dog is a great thing, and for many people, a dog can be a great way to have a friend when you want someone who is around a lot. A dog is a mans best friend, and its great for people who want companionship. But in order to get that companionship, one must train the dog effectively in order to get the dog to listen to you.

Now, when people say that training a dog is super easy, they probably have never done it in their entire life. Thats because its not the easiest task in the world, and for many, if done wrong it can actually be detrimental to your future with the dog. Many dont know about this, and it can cause others to not like your dog as much simply because the dog isnt well behaved. You see this all too often with people who cant take care of a dog, so they have to get rid of it. Its a common problem, but the issue is because some people dont understand the basic tenets of how to take care of a pooch.

Well this book is a beginners guide to helping you train a dog effectively. You need to know this sort of thing, and you can do it easily. By training a dog right, youll end up having a much better experience in the future, and your dog will be obedient. Its essential to do this, but if done right, youll reap many of the benefits from it.

I wrote this book because I was like you at one point. I wanted nothing more than to have a dog. I thought it would be perfect, but the thing is, I made some mistakes. I learned a thing or two about how to train a dog, and I realized I was totally doing it wrong. I felt like an idiot, but after that, I definitely felt happy to have a dog that was loyal to me. All of these different training means can be employed by just about anyone, and its essential to do this in order to have a great dog. Its time to give your dog the love and attention that it needs, and youll feel much better after youve learned how to train the dog effectively, and to a result that is better than anything you have done before.

Ch oosing the Right Dog

You probably hear time and time again that there arent any bad dogs, just bad trainers. Theres is a bit truth to that, but the thing is, if the dog is unfit for the owner, or if the dog isnt the right breed for the owner to be training, youll be just as out of luck. Choosing the right breed and the right kind of dog can be essential as the first training measure to take. You have to have the right type of dog thats good for you, and it can make your life a whole lot easier.

You might think that the perfect dog for you is one that can run around and is happy and energetic. The problem is, a lot of those extremely energetic dogs are very hyper, and this results in the dog running around and breaking things. For example, if you want a Shepard dog, many of them need space to run around and herd things. Thats what they do, and if they dont have that, theyll go insane. Theyre not made to sit in a crate or just chill out. Toy dogs on the other hand are usually kind of yappy and whiney at times, unless they dare trained in a way not to be. Thats just how they are, and if youre not ready for a dog that has a high-pitched whine, and is needier than a baby sometimes, then it might not be for you. They require a lot of care, and they wont spend as much time outside or just doing their own thing, unlike your average dog.

Usually a Labrador is a great one to start out with. Look up breeds that will fit your personality. Are you a patient person, or one that wants the dog to learn right away? Are you able to have an active lifestyle with the dog, or will it be more of a lazy dog? If you dont have the time to take care of the dog, dont invest in one. Thats the common issue with many people. And dont give it to your kids to solely take care of either. Unless theyre old enough to really understand the responsibility, youll have trouble keeping that dog trained now, and later on. For many people, the idea of just getting a dog because its pretty is usually the mindset, but you have to choose a dog that fits you. This is kind of like having your own child, so you have to choose one that fits you, and once you do that, youll be on your way to being able to successfully train a dog. Do your research, find breeders, and see which one is right for you. This is the first step in dog training, but is honestly the most important.

Preparing for Training

Okay, now lets say you have a dog, and it has been around long enough to start training. Ideally, usually about 3-4 months is a good time to start, because usually for the first 6-8 weeks, theyre still very childish and have a hard time listening. But when youre ready, its time to take the opportunity to train your dog, and you have to prepare for this.

The first thing, is to schedule when to train your dog. Training dog requires at least thirty minutes of training time to really make some progress. You dont want it to be like two minutes here and there, but actually work on having a means to get the dog to train with you when you want it to. Have the dog around in an open space when you do this. If you have a fenced-in yard, you will be able to have a better chance of training the dog there. Youll definitely want that.
