Introduction
Halogen ovens utilizes one halogen lamp to cook food. These are more energy-efficient than traditional stoves, ovens and cooking methods. These ovens are simple to use because of their compact and portable designs and unique features. These innovative ovens are handy cooking appliances for people residing in small flats or apartments. You can create scrumptious meals without consuming extra power. These are famous among students and people living alone. These ovens are good for your camping holidays where you can get electricity.
It is important to set timer (normally 60 minutes) and temperature (range between 0 and 250C) to cook food. The motor fan of oven starts working as you set its timer. It is essential to choose right temperature and time for cooking for different food items, such as sausages require almost 10 minutes and you have to cook them on a lower rack. Potatoes should be cooked on lower rack for almost 15 to 40 minutes and chips require 10 minutes cooking time. You have to cook them on higher rack. Moreover, omelet should be cooked on a lower rack for almost 10 to 12 minutes.
Lots of halogen oven requires manual settings to cook different types of foods. You can prepare delicious food in oven. Some recipes require pre-heating and for this purpose, you have to set temperature before time. Before reaching desired temperature, you will notice green light. The thermostat can monitor inside heat of oven and turn it off as per requirement to manage correct temperature. The oven will be turned off automatically after reaching the right temperature.
Numerous ovens have thaw and wash dials on its control panel. With the help of an auto wash feature, you can activate self-cleaning procedure. You have to pour water in the bowl and wait for 10 minutes for the self-cleaning of oven with the use of built-in fan and halogen elements. You can buy a separate stand for your halogen oven, if you dont get a stand with your oven. The lid of the oven will be hot so make sure to handle it with care. For your assistance, here are a few recipes to cook food in your halogen oven.
Chapter 1 Delicious Meat Dishes in Halogen Oven
You can cook delicious meat in halogen oven. These recipes are equally good for both types of halogen oven with one rack and two racks. Here are a few recipes for your convenience.
Recipe 01: Lamb Roast
Cooking Time: 1 hour
Servings:
Ingredients:
- End necks of lamb: 2 (6 to 7 cutlets)
- Chopped onion: cup
- Chopped celery: cup
- Chopped and peeled apple: 1
- Butter: 2 tablespoons
- Dried apricots: 3 tablespoons (soak whole night)
- Chopped parsley: 2 tablespoons
- Grated lemon:
- Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon
- Egg: 1 small
- Ground pepper and salt: as per taste
- Garlic: 1 tablespoon
- Flour: 2 tablespoons
- Beef stock: 2 cups
- White breadcrumbs: cup
Directions:
- Cut the shin bones of meat to make shoulder blades smooth from its joints. Trim every cutlet bone to almost 1 deep.
- Bend both joints around the fat side in and stitch together to make one crown. Cover all exposed bones with a foil paper.
- Saut apple, celery, and onion in butter to make them brown.
- Drain and dry apricots and chop them. Mix in the pan with apple mixture. Season these ingredients well.
- Fill this stuffing in the crown of lamb and weight its joints. Put this joint on the lower rack of your halogen oven.
- Roast at almost 350F for 25 minutes. Baste with some juice from the bowl. Roast at 400F for 25 minutes again and baste occasionally.
- You can use foil paper to cover tightly to avoid overcooking to thin or top sections.
- Remove foil and replace cutlet frills. Serve it with steamed beans, roasted pumpkin, and potatoes.
Recipe 02: Yummy Chinese Riblets
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 3 to 4
Ingredients:
- Pork riblets: 2 lbs.
- Hoisin sauce: 1 cup
- White or brown sugar: 1 cup
- Soy sauce: cup
- White wine: 1/3 cup
- Garlic cloves (chopped): 4
- Hot pepper sauce: 2 tablespoons
Directions:
- Mix all sauce ingredients together.
- Put ribs in one shallow dish and gently coat with sauce marinade. Cover this dish loosely and keep it aside for almost 2 hours in your fridge.
- Arrange marinated ribs on the top rack of halogen oven. Set its temperature to 392F and cook for almost 20 minutes.
- Turn ribs after every 10 minutes. These should turn golden.
- Serve with salad and stuffed potatoes.
Recipe 03: Beef Stew
Cooking Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Servings:
Ingredients:
- Braising steak (chop in small chunks): 1 lb.
- Plain flour: 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil: 1 tablespoon
- Chopped onion: 1 large
- Chopped carrots: 3
- Chopped parsnips: 2
- Beef stock: pint (450 ml)
- Tomato puree: 3 tablespoons
- Pepper and salt: to season
Directions:
- Take a plastic bag and put plain flour in the bag. Add beef in the bag and seal its top firmly. Shake well to coat the meat completely.
