What Is the Paleo Diet?
The Paleo diet is a modern diet that relies on an old-fashioned way of eating. It is a diet that guides itself by one rule: dont eat anything that your ancestors wouldnt recognize as food. It is a balanced diet that combines healthy and nutritious ingredients to create dishes that perfectly combine health benefits with amazing tastes. Modern research has shown that the modern diet, full of fats, sugars, salt, and foods that have no nutrients can only lead to poor general health, diabetes, obesity, heart problems, blood pressure, infertility and even cancer. In these conditions, embracing a healthy diet is a must . Paleo is one of your best choices for many reasons, beginning with the fact that it actually delivers the results it promises.

Improved blood circulation, weight loss and reduced skin problems are some of the most visible results. The diet has deeper effects which include boosted digestion, better absorption of nutrients, less bloating, a healthier heart, unclogged blood arteries, proper working brain, less autoimmune diseases, a longer life span, stopping or reversing diabetes, and the list can go on. All of these benefits are facts that should not be neglected when you choose what diet and lifestyle to follow. Being based on our ancestors diet, Paleo allows meat, fish, nuts, leafy green veggies, seasonal veggies, seeds, fruits, eggs, but it forbids anything that has been processed, such as wheat flour, pasta, bread, candies, and store bought snacks and desserts. Even so, it is a permissive diet that only states a few guidelines lets you combine the ingredients any way you like. It doesnt require counting calories, weighting the food you eat or reducing the food intake and it doesnt go to the extreme either.

It is a very well balanced diet, suited for the entire family and you can all benefit from it.

Ingredients & Equipment
Cooking on the go falls under the category of quick and easy, no hassle, no complicated cooking techniques, and no time lost with unnecessary tasks. Paleo on the go is even simpler because Paleo itself is a diet that requires simple and easy cooking. The ingredients used are combined so that the cooking time is as short as possible and the equipment used makes it all even easier. Here is a list of the most common ingredients used and the most needed piece of kitchen equipment for a successful Paleo on the go.
Ingredients
Almonds Either raw/ blanched almonds or almond flour, almonds are a must have in every Paleo kitchen.

They are very mild in terms of taste and that makes them versatile and easy to incorporate in many recipes, from soups to stews, salads and dessert. Apart from this, their nutritional profile is quite remarkable as well. Proteins, fibers, calcium, magnesium, potassium and folate are just a few of the nutrients found in almonds. Cashew Nuts, Pecans, Walnuts Just like almonds, they are a good source of calcium, proteins, potassium, and fiber and can be used in many dishes or even as a simple snack when your sweet tooth goes crazy. They are fairly filling so they will keep you full for a long period of time. Fresh Fruit And Vegetables These are a must in any diet, not just Paleo.

Paleo uses them to the maximum because not only they are loaded with nutrients, but they also taste great and make a common dish shine. Eggs Eggs are allowed in the Paleo diet, but as a special recommendation. Always buy them fresh and organic. This way you make sure they are as healthy as possible. Meat Grass-fed meat is more than welcomed in a Paleo diet. Bacon, chicken, turkey, pork, or beef are all good options for your meals, taste great, and are versatile.

Meat is a good source of protein; a nutrient that is essential for a proper functioning of the body. Fish is also a healthy option for meat. Healthy Oils In terms of oil, Paleo recommends avoiding over processed oils and choosing the ones that qualified as virgin, such as olive oil and coconut oil. They are great sources of healthy fatty oils. Olive oil is recommended to be consumed raw if possible, while coconut oil can be used even for high heat deep frying because it has a high burning point. Raw Honey Out of all the sweeteners available, only three of them are allowed in the Paleo diet: raw honey, maple syrup, and agave syrup.

However, the purists would say that only raw honey is 100% Paleo, the other two being a case of personal beliefs. I strongly recommend raw honey because it is healthier and has more benefits than any other sweetener. Dark Chocolate And Cocoa Powder As long as it is in its purest form, chocolate is allowed in a Paleo diet. Just like pure cocoa powder, chocolate has a high content of antioxidants and that makes it a healthy and delicious ingredient to use in Paleo baking. Sweet Potatoes Red or golden potatoes are not Paleo, but the sweet ones are and you can use them to make fries, soups, or stews. They are healthy and nutritious and cook easier than any other type of potatoes so make sure you have them in your pantry.

Totally avoid over-processed foods, oils, cereals, grains, legumes, dairy products, potatoes, junk food, candy, desserts, store bought snacks, energy or diet drinks, artificial or refined sweeteners, wheat, and too much salt.

Equipment Needed
Skillet Or Frying Pan These are a must in every kitchen. You can make omelets, frittata, stews, or simply fry foods. They are versatile and easy to clean, especially if you choose a non-stick pan. As a side note, make sure they have no plastic parts so they can be placed in the oven too. Sharp Knife A sharp and easy to handle knife is a must in every kitchen.

When buying one, always hold it in your hand to see if it fits your palm and make sure its not too heavy or too light. It is important to buy a knife that fits your hands because it makes chopping or slicing much easier. Vegetable Peeler Peelers are easier to use than knives when it comes to peeling veggies and some of them even come with various edges, yielding different shaped veggies. Special attention should be given to the noodle peeler which can turn zucchinis or other veggies into noodles. Saucepan What would a kitchen be without a good, sturdy saucepan?! It is such versatile kitchen equipment! Soups, stews, sauts, simply melting ingredients, or boiling water; a saucepan is always useful in a Paleo kitchen. Baking Sheets Either used for baking or for freezing, baking sheets can always prove useful in a Paleo kitchen.
