What Is The Dukan Diet?
With there being so many diets beingdeveloped each day, you may wonder whether there is any specificdiet that will best help you to lose weight. While some diets mayrequire you to only take fluids within a certain period and othersrequiring you to fast several days, you can be overwhelmed with allthe restrictions. However, who said losing weight has to be toorestrictive. It is still possible to eat the foods you love but inmoderation. The Dukan diet is simply a lifestylemeal plan designed to help you lose weight in a quick and healthyway. This diet usually comprises of high proteins, low carbs andmoderate fats.
Since the diet is low in carbohydrates, your body isforced to start burning fats when it does not get enoughcarbohydrates for energy. There are four phases of the DukanDiet namely the attack phase, the cruise phase, the consolidationphase, and the stabilization phase. The AttackPhase The attack phase is largely intake ofprotein for up to seven days. As such, you will mostly encounterfat free dairy products, lean meats, tofu, seitan and eggs withlittle carbohydrates but with adequate fats. The CruisePhase The cruise phase on the other handincorporates non-starchy veggies with proteins, with at leastthirty minutes of exercise every day, and two tablespoons of oatbran. The ConsolidationPhase This phase is a little longer than thesecond phase, and has one protein day during the week, with all theothers blended in a mixture of proteins, carbohydrates, and somefruits except grapes, bananas, dried fruits or cherries.
You mayadd some carbohydrates in the consolidation phase once you havelost some pounds. The StabilizationPhase The stabilization phase is basically aguideline for what you are supposed to eat and do for the rest ofyour life. You can decide to make Thursdays your all protein day,take three teaspoons of oat bran every day, and avoid escalators orelevators. Attack Phase Recipes
1. Chilli And Ginger RoastChicken Ingredients 1 lemon 1 whole medium-sizedchicken 1 cube of fresh ginger 1 red chilli pepper 1 teaspoon of paprika 3 cloves of garlic 2 teaspoons of driedoregano Instructions Pre-heat the oven to 190 degrees C or200 if your oven does not have a fan. Cut lemon into two halves, dent thelemon, squeeze some of the juice into the cavity of the chicken,and press the lemon halves inside. Find a roasting tin to put thechicken. Remove the green stalk and ends of thered chilli, slice it at the middle and remove the seeds.
Cut intosmall pieces and put into the roasting tin with the chickenbreast. Peel and cut the ginger into smallequal pieces. Divide each of the 3 garlic clovesalong their length. Stab the chicken breast with a sharpknife to make room for the ginger, garlic and chilli. Sprinkle the oregano and paprika onthe top. Place in the oven for 1 to 2 hoursto cook until the chicken is set and turns brown.
Once cooked, remove the chicken andcut it; ensure that that there is no blood and the juices are clearand then serve. 2. Lemon ChickenSkewers Ingredients For themarinade: 1 chopped red chilli Juice of one lemon 1 cube of fresh slicedginger 1 Large sliced clove ofgarlic A handful of fresh choppedcoriander For the dip: 2 tablespoons of chopped freshparsley 250g of fat free Greekyogurt teaspoon of paprika 2 tablespoons of chopped freshchives Salt and pepper Instructions Mix all the marinade ingredients in abowl. Chop the chicken breasts into chunks.Add them to the marinade, stir to mix well, and then cover withcling film. Put in the fridge to marinate for at least half anhour. You can leave it for an hour or more for best results if youhave the time.
Prepare the dip by mixing all theingredients in a small bowl, add a pinch of salt and pepper totaste, and then refrigerate while the chicken ismarinating. Cook in the oven under medium grillfor about twenty-five minutes until it turns goldenbrown. Serve with the parsley dip anddill. 3. Caraway Flavored PorkChops Ingredients 2 pork chops 1 tablespoon of carawayseeds 1 lemon Salt and pepper to taste Instructions Heat the oven to 180 degrees C. Removeany visible fats from the pork chops using a chopping board and puton a plate.
Crush the caraway seeds into powderusing a pestle and mortar then sprinkle around the pork chops thenadd salt and pepper to taste. Saut the meat using a slightlygreased non-stick pan under medium heat. Put the pork chops in aroasting tin once they are set and have turned brown. Let it cookand squeeze the lemon juice around the pork chops andserve. 4. Thai ChickenPatties Ingredients For the chickenpatties: 1 chopped garlic clove 1 small, peeled and chopped piece offresh ginger 350g of ground chicken 4 tablespoons of freshcoriander 1 green, roughly choppedchilli red onion chopped For the dip: 2 tablespoons of chopped freshchives 250g of 0% fat Greek yogurt A splash of lemon juice 3 chopped spring onions Salt and black pepper totaste Instructions Prepare the dip by mixing all theingredients in a food processor or blender, add salt and pepper totaste and puree until smooth.
Pour into a small bowl, and use acling film to cover. Put in the fridge while you prepare thechicken patties. Put all the Thai patties ingredientsexcept the chicken in a food processor and blend. Pour theseingredients into the chicken and mix thoroughly. Mould six smallcakes using your hand. Cook the patties in a lightly greasednon-stick pan under medium heat until they turn golden brown.
