INTRODUCTION
Meaning of Instant Pot
An Instant Pot is a pressure cooker, slow-cooker, rice cooker, and yogurt maker all in one package. Its a machine that performs about 7 functions which includes, slow cooker, steamer, rice cooker, saut/browning pan, yogurt maker and warming pot etc. The Instant Pot comes with sensors and self-regulating features for temperature and the amount of pressure.
The Instant Pot has about 10 built-in safety mechanisms and technologies that makes it very easy to use. The safety mechanisms will prevent the Instant Pot from any scary steamy rattling or explosions. The Instant Pot saves so much time and energy. For example, making Goat Stew in slow cookers takes 4 to 8 hours, while the Instant Pot takes about 30 minutes. Tender beef and lamb stew can be made in less than 30 minutes.
Instant Pots fully insulated housing is very energy efficient. The energy generated in the Instant Pot is solely used for cooking, which uses up to 70% less energy than other cooking methods.
Function Keys/Buttons of Your Instant Pot
Heres What Those Buttons on Your Instant Pot Actually Mean:
Manual Button:
The Manual function allows you to select your actual pressure cooking time. The maximum time for pressure cooking with your Instant Pot is 240 minutes.
+/- Button:
These buttons are used to increase or decrease the pressure cooking time.
Saut Button:
This button can be used to saut, brown or simmer your food with the lid open. The saut function is made up of three different temperature ranges. Normal is 320F to 349F, for regular sauting or browning. More is 347F to 410F, for stir-frying or browning food ingredients, Less is 275F to 302F for simmering or thickening a sauce.
Slow Cook Button:
The Instant Pot also functions as a Slow Cooker. The Slow Cook button can be used to cook anything on a low setting. The Slow Cooker temperature ranges from 190F (for the low setting) to 300F (for the high setting). The Slow Cook function is made up of three different temperatures: Normal is 190F to 200F, less is 180F to 190F, and more which is 200F to 210F.
Pressure Button:
The Pressure button can be used to change your cooking time by switching from low to high-level pressure-cooking.
Adjust Button:
The Adjust button can be used to change your settings from Normal and to Less to More. The button allows you to cook something at a higher temperature by pressing these button to switch the setting to More.
Yogurt Button:
The Yogurt button can be used to make yogurt in your Instant Pot. After adding the milk in your Instant Pot, theres actually a lots of instructions to follow in order to make the perfect cup of yogurt.
Timer Button:
The Timer button can be used to choose your desired pressure cooking time. The button also serves as a delay button which can allow your food to be done at your preferred time.
Bean/Chili Button:
This button can be used in cooking dry beans. It can make a delicious chili in just 25 minutes. On the Normal setting, the beans will be done around 30 minutes; 40 minutes on the More setting and 25 minutes on the Less.
Soup Button:
The Soup button allows you to make soup with your Instant Pot. The button has a temperature range of about 230F and will make the soup between 20 to 50 minutes.
Multigrain Button:
This button can be used in cooking brown rice and wild rice. It usually starts off with a 50-minute soak at 140F, than ramps up to 248F for about 9 minutes.
Meat/Stew Button:
These button can be used in making either stew or cooking meat. You can cook meat on Normal for 35 minutes (230F), More for 45 minutes, or Less for 20 minutes.
Porridge Button:
The Porridge button can be used for making rice pudding or grains other than rice. To make rice porridge, it will default cook on High Pressure for about 20 minutes (230F). It can be adjusted to More for 30 minutes or Less for 15 minutes.
Poultry Button:
The Poultry button can be used to make your favorite chicken recipes. It can be adjusted to More for 30 minutes, or Less for 5 minutes.
Rice Button:
The Rice button can be used to cook white rice. It can cook the white rice in a simple 4 to 8 minutes.
Steam Button:
The Steam button can be used to steam vegetables. It can also be used to reheat or steam your food. Always place the food or vegetable in a steam rack. Always use the Quick Pressure Release when done cooking your veggies like broccoli, kale, zucchini, mushrooms, and Brussels sprouts to avoid over cooking.
