Today, Dim Sum has taken a modern touch and flavor. However, the original pork, shrimp and herbs, and spices are still the best and cannot be beaten. Additionally, Dim Sum is super versatile. So whether you like Chinese or not, you can always add your signature to the Dim Sum. Check out the following recipes and get started on making Dim Sum in your home. (1) Dim Sum Vegetable Egg Rolls
These crispy vegetable egg rolls are my children's favorite snack.
Prep Time: 1 hour
Serving Sizes: 8
Ingredient List:
- 12 sheets of phyllo dough
- 2 sliced green onions
- 3 tbsp. of vegetarian oyster sauce
- 1 tsp. of sugar
- Half tsp. of white pepper
- 1 tsp. of sesame oil
- 5 cups of diced cabbage
- 1 cup of diced red pepper
- 1 cups of shredded carrot
- 1 tbsp. of cooking wine
- 1 ounce of diced shiitake mushrooms
- 2 tsp. of grated ginger
- 1 tbsp. of chopped garlic
- 1 cup of diced onion
- 2 tbsp. of vegetable oil

Procedure:
1. In a wok over high heat, add oil, ginger, garlic, and onion, and then cook for 1 minute. Add mushrooms and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
2. Add cooking wine, carrots and bell pepper and stir-fry for 3 minutes. Then add cabbage and again cook for 3 minutes. Add sesame oil, sugar, oyster sauce and white pepper and cook the mixture over high heat for 4 minutes. Remove the wok from heat and transfer the filling to a plate and let it cool completely.
3. Mix green onions into the vegetable mixture. On a clean workplace, place phyllo sheet and put cup of filling on it and roll it in a sushi-like fashion. Repeat the process with other phyllo sheets and make 12 egg rolls.
4. Grease a large baking sheet and preheat oven to 425 F. Put egg rolls on baking sheets with seam side down. Bake egg rolls for 10 minutes after a spray of oil. Serve with orange oolong sweet and sour sauce.
(2) Dim Sum Chicken Feet
These dim sum braised chicken feet are heavenly yummy.
Prep Time: 4 hours 25 minutes
Serving Sizes: 4
Ingredient List:
- Iced water
- Vegetable or canola oil
- 20 chicken feet, with nails and dirty parts, removed
Sauce
- 1 cup of warm water
- 2-star anise
- Half tbsp. of oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp. of soy sauce
- 1 inch crushed ginger root
- 2 chopped Thai chili peppers
- 2 chopped green onions
- 2 crushed garlic cloves

Procedure:
1. In a pot, boil water and add in half tsp. of salt, 1 tsp. of sugar and a half tsp. of rice vinegar. Put the chicken feet into it and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from water and drain well.
2. Marinate the chicken feet for 30 minutes after adding soy sauce. In a frying pan, put oil and heat over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken feet while covering with lid till golden. In a bowl, full of iced water, place the deep-fried feet for about 4 hours.
3. In a bowl, combine garlic, onions, and chili peppers, ginger root, soy sauce, oyster sauce, star anise and 1 cup of warm water. In a steamer, steam the chicken for 15 minutes, pour this sauce over it and further steam for 40 minutes.
4. In another bowl, combine garlic, onions, and chili peppers. Ginger root, soy sauce, oyster sauce, star anise and remaining water. In a pan, put this sauce and steamed chicken and simmer for 15 minutes till the sauce thickens. Serve hot.
(3) Taro Cake
This crispy golden brown cake is a New Year special dish.
Prep Time: 4 hours 30 minutes

Ingredient List:
- 3 cups of glutinous rice flour
- 1 cups of rice flour
- 2 cups of water, 2 2/3 cups more
- 2 tsp. of salt
- 2 pounds of taro, cut into half-inch cubes
- 6 chopped scallions
- Half cup of chopped, dried shrimps
- 3 roughly chopped Chinese sausage
- 2 tbsp. of oil, more oil for frying and greasing

Procedure:
1. In a wok, heat oil over high heat. Fry sausage for 2 minutes and add shrimps and cook for 1 minute more. Remove the heat and set the pan aside. Add scallions and combine well.
2. Sprinkle salt and add 2 cups of water and cover the wok and let it simmer for 10 minutes over low heat. In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, rice flour and 2 2/3 cups of water along with taro.
3. Combine all the ingredients into a smooth paste. Grease two round cake pans. Pour equal amounts of batter into the pans. Cover them with plastic wrap and let them stand for 1 hour.
