There are so many types of pasta available, and you dont need to spend a lot of money to find one that will work into your meal plan perfectly. Try some different kinds of pasta, to keep your recipes new and enticing.
When youre making pasta, youll find that most recipes, even mine, have the first step as cooking the pasta. And that has to be the prime task, to be sure. But if you prepare your sauce at the same time, itll be warm and ready to go, to you can just slip the pasta into the sauce.
Do you have to add salt to the water you use when youre cooking pasta? Unless youre making dessert, pasta, or cutting way down on sodium, salt helps flavor your pasta from the inside out. This will enhance the flavor of the dish youre preparing. Adding the salt as the pasta comes to a boil works well. Turn the page and lets get cooking
This recipe is simple, but it makes a wonderfully tasty breakfast. Everyone seems to love this dish, and it gives you carbs to burn throughout the morning.
Makes 4 Servings
Cooking + Prep Time: 35 minutes
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. of linguine, dried
- 8 whisked eggs, large
- 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/2 tsp. of salt, kosher
- 1/4 tsp. of pepper, ground
- 1 tbsp. of oil, olive + extra
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1/4 cup of parsley, chopped
Instructions:
1. Cook the pasta using instructions on the package and drain.
2. Whisk eggs, Parmesan cheese, kosher salt & ground pepper together in small bowl.
3. Heat 1 tbsp. of oil in a large pan on med. heat. Then add garlic. Saut for 1/2 minute. Add the cooked noodles & egg mixture. Stir till eggs have set softly, usually three to four minutes.
4. Add parsley and oil over top. Serve.
This breakfast recipe brings in all the major food groups, with its poached egg, asparagus, and linguine. Its nutritious and delicious a winning combination.
Makes 4 Servings
Cooking + Prep Time: 1/2 hour
Ingredients:
- 2 cups snap peas with trimmed ends
- 1 trimmed & bite-size cubed asparagus bunch
- 4 minced garlic cloves
- 1 fresh lemon, juice and zest only
- 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
- 4 eggs, large
- 8 ounces of linguine
Instructions:
1. Cook the pasta using package instructions.
2. When pasta needs about five more minutes to be done, begin to cook vegetables and heat the oil in large-sized pan on med. heat.
3. Add snap peas and asparagus. Cook for three minutes and add garlic. Cook for three to four minutes while frequently mixing.
4. Add lemon juice, zest and the Parmesan cheese.
5. Scoop pasta from boiling water without draining at this point. Add to pan with vegetables. Evenly toss, then arrange on individual plates.
6. Drain pasta pot water except for two inches.
7. Crack eggs into pasta water. Cook for three minutes, till eggs are done as you prefer. Scoop from water. Place on pasta and vegetables. Serve.
This mac and cheese-based breakfast recipe is a dish thats easy to make, and very popular. You can even prepare it the evening before and then heat it up for a quick breakfast.
Makes 4 Servings
Cooking + Prep Time: 55 minutes
Ingredients:
- 6 cups of vegetable or chicken broth
- 2 minced cloves of garlic
- 1/2 pound of spaghetti, thin
- 4 thin-sliced onions, green
- 1 & 1/2 cups of diced & drained tomatoes
- 1 tsp. of oregano, dried
- 1/2 tsp. of seasoning, Italian
- 1 pound of drained cheese, ricotta
- 2 grated cups of cheese, cheddar
Instructions:
1. Add broth to a pot. Bring it and the garlic to boil on high heat.
2. Add pasta. Leave pot uncovered and stir often while boiling till al dente, seven to nine minutes.
3. Preheat oven to 375F.
4. Grease 8-inch square baking dish or 10-inch pie plate lightly.
5. Drain pasta and toss with tomatoes, onions, ricotta cheese and seasonings.
6. Spread evenly in baking dish or pie plate. Sprinkle cheddar on top.
7. Bake in middle of 375F oven till golden, 25-30 minutes. Serve.
