Introduction
It takes great courage to push the reset button on your health and change your relationship with food.
When you follow the whole food diet program, there is no calorie counting, and no weighing yourself for the entire duration you are on the program.
It can be hard, especially at the beginning if you're feeling bloated or particularly svelte in the coming weeks.
As far as food goes, you're going to eat many fresh, good-quality foods and discard the processed ones.
Whole Food Diet
Whole Food Diet is an eating style that places emphasis on wholesome, all-natural and unprocessed foods. It is a common way of eating that can be applied in so many ways.
There are no specific outlines or guidelines to follow when it comes to whole food diet, but there are so many foods one can eat while observing this type of diet.
Whole foods are foods in their natural state, fresh and unprocessed. This means that foods made with added preservatives or which are refined can't be included in the whole food diet.
Whole Food Diet Ingredients
The types of foods allowed are natural, unrefined and without additives or preservatives, and are healthy to eat.
You'll remove all grains, soy, dairy, sugar, legumes, artificial sweeteners and preservatives, and alcohol from your diet. These foods, when taken in excess can cause hormonal imbalance, systemic inflammation, gut issues, and more. The idea of the whole food diet is to eradicate the stressors from your body and provide it nutrients and time to heal itself. This means a healthy metabolism, less inflammation, hormonal harmony, a happy gut, a clearer skin and improved energy.
Whole foods are ideal and better for overall health and vitality as they are packed full of nutrients and are devoid of any additives or preservatives.
The good thing about this Whole food diet is that it cuts out:
- Processed or refined sugars
- Nutritionally weak food
Once the program is over, you slowly reintroduce foods that were discarded. It's much more like an elimination diet to find out food sensitivities, which will give you an idea of what your body likes and dislikes during this reintroduction period.
Those who have diabetes, glucose intolerance, high triglycerides, and hypertension can benefit from this type of diet as it cuts out unwholesome foods.
By eating non-processed whole foods and cutting out sugar, dairy, and grains, you will clear up your skin, revitalize your energy reservoir and reduce inflammation in your system. These are just a few of the advantages this diet program has to offer.
Following Whole Food Diet is a fantastic way to improve overall health and well-being, as you are getting rid of unwanted additives and potentially harmful preservatives.
Why I Decided to Try Whole Food Diet Program
I regard myself as a healthy eater. I always try to ensure I eat a lot of vegetables. I make things from scratch, and I'm cautious of overly processed foods.
In my health journey, one of my goals is to reduce inflammation in my system. Many factors go into this, but one of them is to control the foods I put into my body. Food and restoring gut health play a big part in reversing chronic illness.
Personal Experience with Food
I came across a study that 70-80 percent of one's immune system is in the gut. Therefore, it means if your gut is out of control, and you're fighting a chronic illness, it only makes sense to try as much as possible to restore your gut health to improve your immune system, right?
Also, I've observed that the way I eat directly affects my mood. If I take sugar, I almost always feel like trash. But if I take protein and vegetables, I feel stable and much less likely to have a meltdown. Mood swings from blood sugar are also real, and this program is designed to help with these things. Since I wanted to feel better, I decided to try the Whole Food program.
The Instant Pot
An instant pot is a smart electronic device that is safe to use, convenient and dependable. It was created for a fast-paced and healthy family lifestyle. It is a 7-in-1 multi-functional cooking device: slow cooker, pressure cooker, rice cooker, sauter/browner, steamer, yogurt maker, and warmer.
This device has become my favorite kitchen appliance. I love it for a few reasons - it helps me eliminate a few appliances on the counter with its presence.
I love how fast this appliance cooks just about any thing. For example, cooking a whole chicken is simple, easy and very quick to do!
The instant pot may just become your new kitchen best friend as it has certainly become mine. It is easy to use and allows you to customize your cooking programming with the touch of a button. This is not your usual pressure cooker! Unlike other fast cooking methods, the instant pot retains the nutrients in your food.
