K etogenic diet is a therapeutic diet that is low on carbs and allows the body to generate calories from fats and protein in order to fuel the body.

Ketogenic diet encourages ketosis which is a natural process that causes an increase in the rate at which the body burns fat instead of carbohydrate.

What should you then eat while on a Ketogenic diet?

F irst, to start a keto diet you need to plan ahead to ensure that there is a viable diet plan ready and waiting. What you eat actually depends on how fast you really want to get into ketosis. Thus, the more restrictive you are on carbs(less than 15g per day) the faster you can enter the ketogenic state. As a result, the lower you keep your glucose levels, the better the overall results obtained would be. But note that even though you can eat junk and still attain ketosis, the most important fact is that you enjoy healthy, balanced and nutritious diets that will give you unstoppable energy and revitalize your body.

F irst I will show you how to use your weight to calculate your daily protein, carb and fat requirement. Protein Requirements: Usually, protein intake should be between 1 gram and 1.5 grams per kilogram of lean body mass (if you know it) OR ideal body weight. Example: a person weighing 180 pounds and has a lean body mass of 180 pounds.

To calculate his average optimal protein intake, set the lower end of the range at 1.0 g/kg/LBM and the higher end to be at 1.5 g/kg/LBM. Taking into account that dividing pounds by 2.2 = kilograms, the math looks like this: 180 pounds Lean Body Mass/2.2 = 82 kilograms Lean Body Mass Multiply 82 x 1 = 82 grams of protein Multiply 82 x 1.5 = 123 grams of protein The average optimal daily protein intake for this person would be 82-123 grams per day. The same applies to the carbs and fat. Differences in body metabolism and lean body mass can determine to a higher degree if Ketogenic diet will help one lose weight. I NGREDIENTS (For 14 servings) cup extra virgin coconut oil (55 g / 2 oz) cup butter, grass-fed or more coconut oil (55 g / 2 oz) 10-15 drops Stevia extract (Clear / Vanilla) 1 cup macadamia nuts, unsalted (130 g / 4.6 oz) 2 tablespoon powdered Erythritol or any healthy low carb sweetener (20 g / 0.7 oz) 1 vanilla bean or 2 teaspoon sugar-free vanilla extract DIRECTIONS Place the macadamia nuts into a blender and pulse till its smooth. Mix with softened butter and coconut oil (either at room temperature or melted in a water bath).

Add powdered Erythritol and stevia vanilla extract Pour into an ice cube tray or mini muffins. About 1 tablespoons of the mixture in each one will give 14 servings. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let it solidify. Keep refrigerated when done as coconut oil and butter get very soft at room temperature. MACRONUTRIENT RATIO : Calories from carbs (1.8%), protein (2.3%), fat (95.9%)
