Introduction
Whoopie pie is a Pennsylvania Amish tradition and a New England phenomenon. It is made of 2 round pieces of cakes combined with a creamy filling. Whoopie pie is a popular dessert. It is a special, yummy, and gooey treat for children. Some of the youngsters I know say that whenever they eat whoopie pies, they feel like children. The traditional way to prepare whoopie pie is to bake cookies and fill between the 2 pies with a delicious filling.
In this cookbook, you are given in detail how to make our best selected whoopie pies. I hope you would not face any difficulty while making them. Filling recipes are also given in the book.

Whoopie Pies I
Description: These whoopie pies are easy to make. It takes only 35 minutes to prepare.
Preparation Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients:
- Shortening - 1 cup
- Eggs - 2
- Sour milk - 1 cup
- Hot water - 1 cup
- Unsweetened cocoa powder - 1 cup
- Shortening - 1 1/2 cups
- All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Vanilla extract - 1 1/2 tablespoons
- White sugar - 2 cups
- Vanilla extract - 2 teaspoons
- Baking soda - 2 teaspoons
- All-purpose flour - 4 cups
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Confectioners' sugar - 4 cups
- Milk - 1/4 cup
- Egg whites (beaten) - 2
Directions:
- At 400o F, let your oven heat up. Lightly oil cookie sheets.
- Beat sour milk, flour, baking soda, 1 cup shortening, hot water, cocoa, egg, salt, vanilla, and white sugar in a bowl until smooth. Scoop tablespoons onto the cookie sheet.
- Place in the oven for 8 minutes until firm.
- For the filling, whisk egg whites, 1 1/2 cups shortening, milk, confectioners' sugar, vanilla, and 1/4 cup flour in a bowl until smooth. Put 1 tablespoon of the filling between 2 pies each and continue until all pies are done.
Pumpkin Whoopie Pies
Description: It is a yummy pumpkin cookie. You can eat it with or without the filling.
Preparation Time: 30 minutes

- Packed brown sugar - 2 cups
- Solid pack pumpkin puree - 1 1/2 cups
- All-purpose flour - 3 cups
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Ground ginger - 1/2 tablespoon
- Egg white - 1
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Shortening - 3/4 cup
- Vegetable oil - 1 cup
- Eggs - 2
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Baking soda - 1 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1 1/2 tablespoons
- Ground cloves - 1/2 tablespoon
- Milk - 2 tablespoons
- Confectioners' sugar - 2 cups
Directions:
- At 350o F, let your oven heat up. Spray baking sheets with cooking spray.
- Beat 1 teaspoon of vanilla, flour, cloves, eggs, salt, ginger, oil, baking powder, cinnamon, pumpkin, baking soda, and brown sugar in a bowl until fluffy.
- Drop the batter by tablespoons on the baking sheets. Place them in the oven for 10 minutes. Ready to fill between the whoopie pies.
- For the filling, whisk 1 teaspoon vanilla, confectioners' sugar, egg white, shortening, and milk until smooth. Fill between the cookies after.
Oatmeal Whoopie Pies
Description: These are chocolate cakes with filling. My children always crave for these.
Preparation Time: 30 minutes

- Packed brown sugar - 2 cups
- Eggs - 2
- Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Boiling water - 3 tablespoons
- All-purpose flour - 2 1/2 cups
- Egg white - 1
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Shortening - 3/4 cup
- Butter - 3/4 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Baking soda - 1 teaspoon
- Quick cooking oats - 2 cups
- Milk - 2 tablespoons
- Confectioners' sugar - 2 cups
Directions:
- At 350o F, let your oven heat up. Spray baking sheets with cooking spray.
- Beat salt, oats, butter, cinnamon, flour, eggs, baking powder, brown sugar, boiling water, and baking soda until smooth.
- Drop tablespoons on the baking sheets. Place in the oven for 12 minutes. Fill between the whoopie pies.
- For the filling, whisk egg white, milk, shortening, 1 teaspoon vanilla and confectioners' sugar in a bowl until fluffy. Now fill.

- Milk - 1 cup
- Shortening - 3/4 cup
- Salt - 1 pinch
- White sugar - 1 cup
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Baking soda - 1 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Confectioners' sugar - 2 cups
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
Directions:
- At 350o F, let your oven heat up. Spray cookie sheets with cooking spray.
