Introduction
Irish food is one style of cooking that many people are familiar with. It has evolved through the centuries from a simple cuisine, to a cuisine that is made up of different culture from the island itself. This cuisine has many influences from the crops and animals that are raised and farmed to the islands temperate climate. It is one of those cuisines that over the years has grown steady popularity due to its amazing food and ease of cooking it.
However, one of the main reasons why Irish cuisine has slowly been growing in popularity and why you have probably fallen in love with it, is its versatility. This type of food can practically be served any day of the year and can be made to celebrate nearly every occasion from Christmas, New Years, Halloween and even St. Patricks Day!

Delicious Irish Foods
Hearty Bacon, Beer and Cheese Soup
This is a delicious dish that every cheese lover will never have to make an excuse in order to enjoy it. Packed full of smoky bacon flavor and packed with creamy cheese, this is one dish you can make whenever you are craving something hearty.
Makes: 2 Servings
Total Prep Time: 25 Minutes
Ingredients:
- Pound of Bacon, Thick Cut
- 1 Onion, Large in Size and Finely Diced
- 2 Cloves of Garlic, Minced
- Cup of Flour, All-Purpose Variety
- 2 Cups of Chicken Broth, Low in Sodium
- 1 Cup of Milk, Whole
- 1, 8 Ounce Lager
- 3 Cups of Cheddar Cheese, Finely Shredded
- Dash of Salt and Black Pepper, For Taste
- Some Bread, French Variety and For Serving
Directions:
Use a large sized skillet placed over medium heat and add in your bacon. Cook for the next 6 minutes or until crispy to the touch. Once cooked transfer your bacon to a plate lined with the paper towels to drain. Once drain crumble your bacon finely.
In the same skillet with your bacon grease heat over medium heat. Once your grease is hot enough add in your onion and cook for the next 6 minutes or until soft to the touch. Then add in your garlic and cook for an additional minute or until fragrant.
Add in your flour to this mixture and whisk for the next 3 minutes or until golden in color.
After this time add in your low sodium chicken broth, whole milk and lager. Stir to combine and allow your mixture to simmer for the next 15 minutes.
After this time add in your shredded cheese and stir thoroughly until fully melted. Season your mixture with a dash of salt and black pepper. Add in your crumbled bacon and stir to incorporate.
Remove from heat. Ladle your freshly made soup into serving bowls. Top off with your remaining bacon and serve with your bread. Enjoy!
Cheesy Style Guinness Bread
If you love the taste of cheese and beer, then this is one dish I know you will want to try making for yourself. This is a bread packed full of melted cheese and a beery taste that I know you are going to want to make over and over again.
Makes: 6 Servings
Total Prep Time: 50 Minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 Boule of Bread, Large in Size
- 1 Stick of Butter, Fully Melted
- 3 Cloves of Garlic, Minced
- 2 Tbsp. of Chives, Fresh and Roughly Chopped
- 1/3 Cup of Guinness
- 2 Cups of Cheddar Cheese, Sharp Variety and Finely Shredded
Directions:
The first thing that you will want to do is preheat your oven to 350 degrees. While your oven is heating up crosshatch your boule of bread, making sure to make a slice into it every inch in both directions.
Use a small sized bowl and add in your fully melted butter, minced garlic and chopped chives. Stir thoroughly to combine.
Brush your bread with this butter mixture, making sure to reach inside all of the crevices.
Stuff the crevices in your bread with your shredded cheese.
Wrap your loaf in a sheet of aluminum foil.
Place into your oven to bake for the next 20 minutes. After this time remove the aluminum foil and continue to bake for an additional 10 minutes. Remove and serve immediately.
Cheesy Style Irish Potato Pancakes
This is a great tasting pancake recipe that you can make for breakfast, lunch, brunch or dinner. Packed with Skellig cheese and minced garlic, this is one dish that I know you will want to make over and over again.
Makes: 8 to 10 Servings
Total Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup of Potatoes, Mashed
- 1 Cup of Potatoes, Raw and Freshly Grated
- 1 Cup of Flour, All-Purpose Variety
- 1 Cup of Cheddar Cheese, Finely Shredded
- Cup of Milk, Whole
- 2 Tbsp. of Chives, Fresh
- 2 Cloves of Garlic, Minced
- tsp. of Sea Salt, For Taste
- tsp. of Black Pepper, For Taste
- Some Eggs, Over Easy and For Serving
Directions:
Use a medium sized bowl and add in all of your ingredients except for your eggs. Stir thoroughly to combine.
Place a large sized griddle and place over medium heat. Add a touch of oil and once your oil is hot enough pout in at least cup of your batter.
Cook your pancakes for at least 3 to 5 minutes or until your pancake is golden brown in color. Flip and continue to cook for an additional 3 to 5 minutes or until golden in color.
Remove and repeat with your remaining batter.
Top off your cooked pancakes with your over easy eggs and chives. Serve right away and enjoy.
