Note:
If you already have a seller account on eBay and a verified PayPal account, please SKIP steps 1 and 2.
Step 1
Create A Seller Account
Creating a seller account takes no more than five minutes. Choose a great user ID that depicts business-seriousness. This will help portray your account as business-minded in the eyes of buyers.
Choose a user ID, enter and confirm your name, address and mobile number. Select an automatic payment option for paying your seller fees.
Step 2
Open And Verify A PayPal Account
To handle financial transactions on eBay, PayPal is the way to go.
eBay owns PayPal, and it is the default payment option. Open a PayPal account and get verified by entering your bank information and following the steps outlined.
Getting verified elevates your credibility on eBay, increases your sending and withdrawal limits and allows you to sell worldwide.
Step 3
Do Your Research
For aspiring eBay sellers, I advise you to study and understand the marketplace for the products you want to sell. Do your research thoroughly so that for your products can stand out.
Even though you may be familiar with the product, it is important to educate yourself about the market. You should ask yourself: "Is there a market for the item I want to sell?"
eBay is an incredible marketplace because you'll most likely find a buyer for almost anything you are thinking about selling.
Some brands and products carry a lot of retail value. For example, hot Lilly Pulitzer Dress that quickly sold out might resell for quite a bit, even if they are used. The same thing can also be said for products that gained popularity on blogs and social media.
A quick search on eBay will let you know what you will probably get for your inventory.
Step 4
Never Underestimate And Ignore The Power Of An Iron
Clothing items up for sale must be clean and tidy. The neatness of these items creates an appeal to a buying eye and the opposite drives a buyer away. Image is EVERYTHING on eBay as it is your selling point and the KEY to convince buyers to consider your items for purchase.
Uploading items that are wrinkly in appearance give buyers the impression that you do not handle your clothings with care and makes them think twice before buying.
Tip: To make ironing or steaming more enjoyable and fun, watch a movie or television show while at it.
Step 5
Have Clothing On A Mannequin
The probability of selling your clothing items increases when they are seen on a mannequin.
Doing this helps the buyer imagine the length of the item, how the neckline lays, how the item fits, and how the pattern looks up close and from a distance.
You can get hollow plastic torso mannequins for about $20 or less on eBay. Buying a mannequin will pay for itself many times over. As your income increases, you can upgrade to a dress form or full-sized mannequin.
Step 6
Have A Captivating Shooting Background
Like I said earlier, IMAGE is everything on eBay. A good and sharp image can capture a buyer while a blurry one will chase interested buyers away.
Good pictures are important to making sales. To get captivating images, find a white wall that receives good natural light and set up a 3M hook that can resist some weight.
Discard the white plastic hanger for a velvet, wooden or a sequined one.
Step 7
Snap And Edit
After setting up your shooting area, get your camera and snap right away. You dont have to be a professional photographer to create crisp, sharp images. If you don't own a camera, your smartphone will do just fine.
Smartphones have come a long way and so have their photography quality. Use photo editing apps like BeFunky or Snapseed to snap and edit your pictures. For more brighter and appealing images, increase the exposure. Be sure not to over filter as it skews the coloring of your snapped items and makes the pictures less crisp.
For each item, capture the front, back, brand label, size label and material type label. You should also snap any damaged or worn-out spots.
Take lots of pictures - get up close and personal with your item and show all the details a buyer would want to see.
Once you are done, place the items in storage containers and keep in a dry place.
Step 8
Use Quality Images And Upload 360 Degree Pictures
In this business, it's all about the pictures and picture quality is key here. Put up high-quality pictures that will entice a buyer.
Take note that a prospective buyer cannot touch or see the item, so he or she will depend on your images for decision-making.
Assist buyers visualize the clothing item as they would wear it. Have the item displayed on a mannequin and upload images of the front, side, and back views. Show pictures of any embellishments such as zippers, logos, interesting buttons and unusual stitching. Make sure the buyer knows what he is paying for.
