The ZeroToGreen Challenge is designed to take you on a journey from beginner to experienced in terms of taste and skill level when it comes to enjoying a green smoothie. Lite, Medium and Advanced sections will guide you through the healthy world of common fruits and veggies, as well as the not-so-common superseeds and superfoods.
If youre new to the world of green smoothies, start with the Lite level. The greener, more veggie-heavy smoothies in the Medium to Advanced levels can shock your taste buds if you arent accustomed to the flavor and texture. First time green smoothie drinkers tend to start with drinks on the sweeter and fruitier side. This way, you can eye the greener veggies from a distance and add them slowly to your smoothies as your palate adjusts. In time, you will crave the leafy, cruciferous, herb-filled drinks with their dark green color.
The good news is that your taste buds will develop, and youll be amazed at the sophisticated smoothie palate you have developed. We encourage you to start out at the Lite level and make your way to the Advanced level at your own pace. For some, that is a week or two in each level. But theres not a hard and fast rule.
Lite
In the beginning, aim to make about three smoothies a week. As you start to feel more comfortable in your smoothie making prowess, try to drink smoothies in this section that include at least one leafy green or veggie.
Medium
At this level, its a good goal to drink 3-4 smoothies a week. You will notice an increase in the greens-to-fruit ratio in each recipe. Plus, we are adding superfoods in all the smoothies. This is a great starting level if youre looking to reboot your green smoothie habits. The recipes in this section are unique, easy to make, and taste fabulous.
Advanced
It is a worthwhile goal to drink one smoothie a day at the Advanced level. By now, you will have felt the benefit of all those healthy fruits, vegetables, and superfoods. Your body might be telling you to take it to the next level. Our Advanced level smoothies blend combinations of superfoods, superseeds and more robust tasting greens to boost to effects of each glass you drink.
Where to start? Below is a sample program. Remember, its always a good idea to buy fresh in-season fruits and vegetables when possible. Start off with ingredients that are familiar to you, and then slowly mix in new items. You can progress through the levels or weave in and out of Lite, Medium and Advanced. Success is drinking each glass to the last drop and wanting more!

Tips for a great experience
- Ingredients in all recipes are listed in the order you should add them to your blender. Following our sequence will make blending easier.
- Low-powered blender? Finely chop all ingredients for a smoother texture and more balanced smoothie.
- Smoothies are best stored in a glass jar in the fridge. If youre making a smoothie several days in advance, its best to freeze it and then drink as it thaws.
- All recipes are for one serving size (regular to tall glass). Double the recipe if you are sharing.
- The best time to drink a smoothie is when it works best for you: In the morning as a meal replacement, at lunch for a pick me up, or later in the day. There is no wrong time.
- We encourage you to buy as many organic ingredients as possible. Buy fresh veggies and fruits that are in season to save money, but keep a stash of frozen fruits handy to fill in when needed.
- Preparing ahead paves the way to success. Make a list of what you need for the week, purchase your ingredients, wash your produce, and have it all ready to go when you need it.
- Produce size and flavor can vary tremendously. If your smoothie tastes too sour, add honey or dates. If it tastes bitter, add citrus. If the consistency is too thick, add water or coconut water.
