Acknowledgments
Many people guided me along this magnificent journey. I thank God for my abilities with specific gratitude for the Holy Spirit, who gracefully guides me with wisdom and discernment in my work. Im grateful to my parents for the generous, loving environment they provided and for fostering my connection with God. My siblings conveyed a balance of love and skepticism, which gave me the determination to push forward and seek purpose for my abilities. My husband, Shane, believed in me and always supported my connection to the spirit world; Im grateful for his love and understanding. My children, Brayden and Briella, have been the biggest influences in my life. Theyve given me the greatest gift of unconditional love, which fueled my development of self-acceptance and true love. I thank my Aunt Jacquie, Uncle Dennis, and Aunt Jan for all of their love and understanding.
Several excellent English and writing professors inspired and enlightened me. From grammar and high school, I would like to thank Mrs. Susan Reynolds and the spirit of Ms. Sue Quinn, both of whom I credit with my initial engaging exposure to creative writing. From undergraduate college, I thank Dr. Michael Storey and Ms. Josephine Trueschler, for introducing literature as a passionate art form rather than mere words on a page. From graduate school, I thank my incredible thesis mentors Walter Cummins, Martin Donoff, and Jeffery Renard Allen. They nurtured the writer within me through grace and compassion without ever stifling my creative sense. Im grateful for their collective patience, guidance, and support.
To my loved ones and friends in spirit form: your visits are always welcome as much as the insightful information you present; I leave the door open to all of you.
To John, Odessa, TK, SL, George, and RGmy spiritual entourage: Im eternally grateful for your love and continued guidance.
To Kitty, Jay, Ricky, Nolanda, Jack, and Father Kevin: I appreciate your assistance in weaving the tapestry of our stories, which included Divine threads extending from the Earth plane to the spirit world.
To everyone who has ever visited my office: thank you for trusting and allowing me to work in the sacred space of your energy.
I gratefully acknowledge my editor, Amy Glaser, for her keen vision and intuitive understanding of this book. She recognized the books ability to help people and decided to pursue it. I also thank my publisher Llewellyn Worldwide for supporting me as an author and rising to the task of publishing books, which elevate human consciousness.
Introduction
As a young child, seeing spirits scared me. As my clairaudience developed, however, I learned to communicate with them. My first conversations involved passed-on loved ones. I felt quite comfortable with their visits, and using my childhood rationale, I decided that I must have been chosen as the universal family member. Since our family members in spirit form conveyed validating details for those on the Earth plane, most of my immediate family learned to accept these visits and messages.
When I grew older, I became more sensitive to energy; I saw, sensed, and heard spirits everywhere, although it didnt quite meld with my Catholic upbringing. It became normal for me and I soon recognized that my concept of normal was different from that of most other people. I hid my abilities from my friends and non-family members out of fear of being judged and rejected.
All of that changed when a good friend from work passed on and opened me to communicating with non-family members. He had many messages for his loved ones, friends, and coworkers, and his visits pushed me along the path of mediumship. People in my company eventually learned of my abilities, and I received requests for mediumship readings in voicemails, emails, and sometimes on notes during company meetings. Although it was not something I was doing as a professional psychic medium, I felt bad saying no because they wanted to communicate with a loved one, and I had a God-given ability to facilitate that process. I never rejected a request, and it helped me grow in my abilities.
