Mediumship is the ability to contact deceasedspirits, speak with them, hear them and in some cases, channellthem aloud. Some mediums also feel the spirits emotions and painwhile reading their thoughts. In physical mediumship some mediumsare able to touch objects that spirits project into the thirddimension and create ectoplasm, a type of spiritual substance.Though, this last ability is very rare today.

Mediums can also channell messages from higherbeings such as angels, archangels such as Michael, Ariel andRaphael and the Ascended Masters such as Sananda (Jesus), Mary,Kwan Yin, Kuthumi etc. In the same way, they can also channelllower entities such as lower astral beings and mischievous or evilspirits.

We have always made it a firm rule never tochannell other than the higher spirits. Contacting lower spiritscan be mentally harmful to everyone including the medium andobservers. We will teach you protection techniques for spiritcontact and we encourage you to use them every time you make spiritcontact or channell a spiritual being.

In days gone by, mediums would often putthemselves into a deep trance before making contact with spirits.Some even sat in elaborate darkened booths with restraints on feetand hands! In Victorian times, this type of mediumship was rifewith quacksters and con men.

Observers or sitters wanted paranormal phenomenasuch as floating ectoplasmic trumpets, floating hands, physicalforms of spirit beings made of ectoplasm (a type of whitish gooeymaterial). Of course, many of these mediums were exposed as fakes,which has to this day, still tarnished the reputation of manygenuine mediums.

Thankfully however, the trend for mediums andclairvoyants today is to merely sit in normal light in everydaysettings with their clients and give messages from deceasedrelatives or higher beings which helps the client not frightens orconfuses them! Ectoplasm and floating trumpets have been replacedby coherent readings, genuine contact and caring counselling by themedium.

Most mediums are also clairvoyant i.e. they seespirits and scenes of the past, future and present. Clairvoyantmeans seeing clearly. They are also usually clairsentient - theysense the spirits; clairaudient - they hear the spirits andclairolfactory - they smell odours associated with the spirit.Mother Mary for instance smells of roses and some spirits whosmoked a pipe in their physical life on Earth, may appear with anodour of tobacco around them! This helps identify them to theclient.

It is commonly thought that you have to be theseventh son of a seventh son to be psychic, but this is not true.Yes, a few rare people are born with their third eye chakra blazingand see spirits easily and know the future, but most of us have alittle psychic talent that can be increased and we can be taught tobecome clairvoyant or become a medium! It takes much practice, butyou can learn to see spirits, talk to them and feel their emotionsand thoughts.
