We touched on these during the introduction chapter to this book, but surely we will not go through all the trouble of becoming an alpha male if there is not some benefit in it, will we?

Alpha, Beta, and Omega are, of course, letters in the Greek alphabet. As we have already shown, alphas are the most dominant and the most valued of the threewhat we all need to aspire to be!

Betas lack the dominance of alphas and therefore are often seen as aggressivegenerally not well-liked. The least confident of the three is the omega, who we typically equate with being the introverted nerd who just wants to stay at home. So, what rewards can we expect as modern alpha males?

Enterprise . You will be seen as a problem-solver, a decision-makerone to go to when a seemingly impossible problem is to be solved. You will be known as the plan-maker, the game-changer . Everyone likes an enterprising individual.

Enterprising literally means to show resourcefulness or initiative! Bosses love a plan makersomeone to whom they can delegate an assignment with confidence, knowing that it will be addressed and executed in a way that will exceed expectations.

Charisma is that X-factor that is difficult to describe, but it comes naturally to an alpha.

Leadership. People will naturally follow your leadership style and will want to be associated with a winner. As part of your team, people will know that you have a situational leadership style with an ability to adapt to changes in the context in which you are operating.

Situational leadership is based on the theory that there can never be one leadership model that fits every situation because situations tend to differ one from the other. It also depends on the capability, maturity, and motivation of the followers.

There are apparent differences between leadership and management. Leadership is visionary; management is process-oriented. An alpha is good at both but is especially strong at leadership because of his levels of self-confidence and the levels of trust he inspires.

That would just be counter-productive! Because you are confident, you have high levels of certainty when pursuing your objectives and goals.
